M.Sc. Organic Chemistry is a 2 year postgraduate program covering and dealing with the scientific knowledge of structure, composition, properties, reactions etc. It also deals with arrangements of carbon-based organic compounds. Candidates in order to pursue the program must have completed an undergraduate degree in organic chemistry with a minimum of 50% or above in aggregate from a recognized institute.

The syllabus of the Master of Science in Organic chemistry is spread over 2 years and further divided into 4 semesters covering different topics of Organic spectroscopy, synthetic organic chemistry, stereochemistry, computer applications etc. This course consists of the core as well as elective subjects, including training and internships.   • Principles of Bioinorganic Chemistry- The subject aims at providing knowledge of alkali and alkaline earth metal, metal site structures, iron-sulfur proteins, myoglobin, catalase, oxygen-evolving center and many more.
  • Concept of Organic synthesis- The subject aims at providing a deeper understanding relating to pericyclic reactions, Woodward-Hoffmann correlation diagrams, sigmatropic rearrangements, photosensitization energy transfer reactions and many more.

The answer will vary depending on the particular institution and its requirements if you have earned a B.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry and would like to pursue an M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry.  IIT Kharagpur does not, however, provide an M.Sc. programme that focuses on "Industrial Chemistry."  Instead, applicants who have finished a B.Sc. with a specific number of chemistry subjects are eligible to apply for an M.Sc. in Chemistry (and integrated M.Sc.+Ph.D. in Chemistry). Eligibility for  IIT Kharagpur’s M.Sc in Chemistry : B.Sc (Chemistry) or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD) from a recognized university.
