Ans. MBA Tourism in IIM Sirmaur is an unique program offered by very few IIMs. It is a 2-year program that provides knowledge and helps to develop a career in the tourism industry. The program has 60 seats and the fees is INR 16 lakhs for 2 years. The admission process is same as that of MBA program i.e. CAT followed by Personal Interview. The MBA Tourism cutoff is lower compared to the flagship MBA. The cutoff for MBA Tourism is 80 percentile overall and 65 percentile sectional for general category, whereas the cutoff for MBA is 94 percentile overall. Last year around 58 companies visited IIM Sirmaur to hire the MBA Tourism students. The highest package offered to the students was INR 34 Lakhs and the average salary was at INR 11.82 LPA, offering an ROI of 47.75%. The scope of MBA Tourism is in industries like tourism, hospitality, aviation, etc, which is a huge market. Ans. One very important aspect that people forget while choosing colleges is the leader under which the college performs. Without effective leadership, any new IIM will become a worthless B School. One such example is IIM Trichy. IIM Trichy prospered under the leadership of Director Sri Prafulla Agnihotri who made Trichy what it is today. He constructed it from scratch. Through his relentless efforts, he was able to attract top professors and build a sound faculty base. He managed to provide the best through the temporary campus itself. The same person Director Sri Prafulla Agnihotri is now leading IIM Sirmaur so I can say with conviction that if not immediately, then gradually Sirmaur’s brand name will improve magnificently in the years to come. Ans. Both the courses give an edge to each other and cannot be compared. MBA T and HM are specialized courses that should be taken only if you are inclined toward the field. It helps you to establish a career and knowledge of the Tourism and Hospitality industry.  The 2-year MBA flagship course has been standing for more than 2 years and therefore its curriculum cannot be compared to that of these recently launched courses. Some perks of these courses are  Become a part of the legacy. Learn how to build everything from scratch by founding or becoming part of clubs and committees. International Job opportunities  Himachal is famous for its tourism because of its beautiful landscapes. The tourism sector of Himachal Pradesh contributes 7% to the state GDP. You can contribute to promoting Tourism, increasing its capacities to serve foreigners while remaining settled in your hometown. Ans. FMS BHU gives an edge to IIM Sirmaur in almost every aspect. The fact that it is a baby IIM yet to establish its position in the industry is the main drawback of IIM Sirmaur. Even its IIM tag lacks credibility and worth because of its weak alumni base and below average placements. However, if you are specifically choosing IIM for the course and not the tag, then you might go for it. FMS BHU is one of the leading B Schools technically due to its early establishment.
