The Oxford College of Science Bangalore Hostels: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 82 Reviews

The hostel provides sufficient accommodation with rooms that are spacious and clean, though washrooms are often reported as old and dirty. The annual hostel fee is 2400 INR, including food, with a monthly breakdown of 1000 INR for room and 1000 INR for meals, covering breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Electricity and water are included in the fee. The facility is located away from the main campus, necessitating a bus ride.

The food quality receives mixed reviews, with some describing it as unhygienic. Students have noted strict regulations, particularly for female residents. PG accommodations near the college offer an alternative, with average rents around 7,000-8,000 INR for three-person sharing, along with amenities such as food, Wi-Fi, and TV. The college provides hostel registration during admission, and PGs are often preferred due to their proximity and greater freedom.

Hostel Facilities:

The hostel is far away from the college campus. Students are picked and dropped by the college bus which is very tiring to travel. The rooms are clean but the washrooms are old and dirty. there is no timely cleaning. 2 to 3 sharing available. The food is not very hygienic. The menu is the same every week. PGs near the college are very comfortable and affordable than college hostels.

I have opted to stay in PG. The average rent for a 3 sharing PG around the college is 7k-8k. PG is always a better option as it gives more freedom than hostel. You are also provides with 3 times food (2 times on some PGs), free WiFi connectivity and TV.

I didn't opte for Hostel as I am staying in my rented flat but I can give some suggestions which I gather from my friends. Apart from one side hostel is good but from the another side refer to mesh facilities is messed up. Students claims for providing hot & fresh food but failed to Govern. Hostel is far from our college & have to get bus which provided by chairperson. I would like to give 3star out of 5. It's difficult 4 me conclude about infrastructure of hostel but one think I can say there is play groud & u have to reach hostel before 9 pm where u are.

Hostel Facilities:

We did not have a hostel attached to the college. But the mess was a mess (Both Infra facilities and quality of food offered) when we joined in 2002. But subsequently a new mess was constructed and the contractor changes. Thereafter the Infra facilities (Dining Hall) was as good as a 3 start hotel and the quality to quantity ratio of food offered went high. That was the case till we left college in 2004.

The library is well organised with textbooks, study materials, newspapers, magazines, journals and other materials. Some classrooms are faciliated with projectors , charts where learning difficult topics can made simplified. and well lit and ventilated . but college doesn't had its own playground but sports activities are held every year Where lots of students werre participated and won many prizes and college as various cells such as sexual harazment cell, no ragging cell, NCC, NSS, sports cell, and placement cell etc...
