NIFT HYD - WHERE YOU WANNA BE

Likes

Loved the architecture of our campus. Lots of place to hangout and chill including the terrace and cozy classrooms.
Girls are much more in number than the boys. Boys tend to lean more towards Technology department, accessory design and fashion communication
The teachers are all highly respected and well graduated. They have all mostly got their phds and very well versed in their subject of knowledge.

Dislikes

Class timings werent an issue at all but load of assignments caused a lot of stress at one certain point during the semester
Hostel restrictions are not much compared to other campuses but at times they increase security which might cause issues to go out

Admission:

I didnt apply to any other college. It was NIFT or nothing else for me. Initially, we submit our application for the course we want. Then there is GAT exam, general ability test which is a combination of maths, english, General knowledge, case studies. There will be selection from this exam for the interview and campus selection. The interview part was not there for me, because of COVID. So there was narrowed selection from the exam itself. Hyderabad has proven to be a great college for fashion Technology students with good placements and great faculties. For the exam, focus on all the factors, buy books, attend coaching if required, do mocks and u will definitely ace it. NIFT is the epitome of best fashion college so to get in here to achieve your fashion career dream is the ideal dream. The cutoffs are generally lenient. However, since more and more students are applying ever year it has gotten tough to get in. Reservation seats and NRI seats are all there for students. Overall admission experience was tad bit stressful but really fun and exciting at the same time

Building design, its architecture and aesthetics
Nature friendly campus everywhere it is so green
Outside the college everything is available because of being in the city region

Dislikes

Staff and its pathetic management skills.
Teachere and professors are not interested to teach
The fees paying for the course is not worth it to the services they are providing

Admission:

Admission process includes 2 exams first is prelims and mains when you clear both the exams than you go for counselling sessions in which you are alloted seats according to the presseences you fill and number of seats available there.

Likes

Faculties mentorship quality on students was sooo good
The subjects we study are so interesting rather than normal colleges
College located at beautiful place where as we easily accessible the metro too

Dislikes

The dogs and cats inside the hostels are discomfort for me

Admission:

I need my carrier in design so I applied nid too But I got rank in nift entrance exam Nift entrance exam contains prelims and situation test where prelims contain drawing and general questions and in situation test we need make the product By the marks of both the tests we will get the ranks and allotted to various campuses I love Hyderabad that's the reason I choose this campus.

LIFE AT NIFT

Likes

I like the culture and environment of the college as all the festivals are celebrated and lots of events keep going on. Students are encouraged to put stalls, participate in competitions.
It’s really safe for girls inside the campus and they can wear what they want and be creative with their clothes
Opportunities like modelling for shoots and interning for pop ups keep coming which give good exposure

Dislikes

Too much work and with events going on it gets really hectic
The faculty is nice but you’ll have to push and nag them if you really want to learn. They won’t take too much effort on their own
Job through college placements is really difficult and the opportunities are less. It’s better to find one on your own.

Admission:

I applied to all other reputed private colleges and cleared all the entrances but nift has a reputation that none of the other colleges do in case of design, so when I cleared nift entrance I didn't think of other colleges at all.

My Journey at NIFT Hyderabad

Likes

Networking with extremely talented and creative folks
Rigorous and well made curriculum with many practical subjects like garment construction and pattern making.
Practical knowledge through internships and industrial tie ups

Dislikes

Poor placement records with very low salaries offered. Professor encourage to enter the industry with lower salaries which is very disappointing given the high fees that a student pays and the kind of hard work which is required to pursue the course

Admission:

For applying to B. F. Tech, we have to sit for the entrance exam GAT - General ability testin the month of February. The selection is done based on your performance in the test and then counselling session is done where the centres where you can choose the centres available at your rank.

Sneak peak into nift life

Generally, for undergraduate course the fees is very high as of a government college. But tbh, NIFT do justice to it. There might be less opportunities as of a fresher in industry, that's why the salary package is low. But nift teaches you a lot.
It prepares you for the outer world and if you have enough passion, you will end up in the most dignified places. The learning outcome is great here.
About everything else, social interaction, mentorship, infrastructure everything is great here. You will never miss your home if you are in NIFT during any festivals. We not only celebration common festivals, but we understand different cultures here

Dislikes

There is not much that i have disliked here. Basic hostel problems and mess food sometimes are not eatable. Which is common everywhere
Our junior director and director sir are great and very supportive of student council which represents us. Sometimes, are demands may go unheard but they specially specify reasons for same.
Overall, the placement opportunities is something which they can look more closely into. Because after so much of investment, it's quite impossible to directly start our own brand or look somewhere else. So opportunities can be increased.

Admission:

For bftech course , you need to be a pcm student in class 12. You have to appear for the nift entrance exam. The question paper is quite easy, they don't ask you fashion related questions (that's what I got to know during my exams), just a general ability test including maths, English, logical reasoning, and general knowledge. One can get reservation benefit during the cut off and final admission process.

The admission process is quite lengthy as it has 4 steps to clear. Submitting application form through online process. GAT (General Aptitude Test and CAT Creative Ability test - GAT Includes your general aptitude test ( English, reasoning, analytics, general knowledge) and CAT includes the creative mind test like the knowledge of the colors, how different you can think and present in on paper. Situation test: This includes creating a 3D model on the given topic within a particular timeframe. Counseling process: It includes an allotment of courses and college branch as per rank.

Faculty, infrastructure, campus life. And the course.
Greenery and Peacocks you get to see in the campus.

The admission process was very systematic and smooth. All the forms and dates are on the NIT website. You need to keep checking the mail and be updated all the time. There is no specific eligibility. It is not necessary to be from a fashion background, students from all backgrounds can apply.

Fashion is nothing but how you present to the world.

Admission:

There is an exam that is self-conducted by NIFT and there is 2 round. 1st round is the written paper which is known as the GAT-General Aptitude Test. 2nd round is GDPI-Group discussion and personal interview. Last year I filled out the form and it cost me 3000. There is a reservation in this college for EWS, SC, St, OBC, and NRI too.

Good side of NIFT

Admission:

The fee of our college is very high if we see it as a government college. The scholarship process is very Hecktick and it happens during the running semester for which we couldn't focus on the scholarship process. I would like the government to look after the matter of fashion colleges.
