IIIT Sonepat, established in 2014, is an autonomous engineering institute of National importance. Operated from the Shri Balwant Institute of Technology (SBIT) Campus in Haryana, it is a part of a public-private partnership. IIIT Sonepat Admission 2026

IIIT Sonepat offers admission to undergraduate, & Ph.D programs in various specializations. Admission to these programs is based on entrance exams, followed by a counseling process. Admissions for the 2025 academic year have officially ended, and classes are about to begin in September.

Admission to B.Tech programs is based on the ranks in the JEE Main, followed by JoSAA and CSAB Counselling. Candidates also need to satisfy the eligibility criteria of passing the 10+2 exam with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate with PCM subjects.
The university also offers Ph.D programs. The admission to PhD programs is based on UGC/CSIR/NET/GATE scores. Students who qualify for any of these exams are eligible to apply. Applicants need to go through the Screening test and interview rounds to get admission.

Annual cultural fests are conducted as well.
As per connectivity concerns, IIIT Sonepat is situated in Rajiv Gandhi Education City. It is 35 Km away from Delhi and 80 Km away from Cyber City Gurugram.
Hostel facilities are available for students and are provided in multiple stages under privatized operators at the IIIT Sonepat campus. As per student reviews, the first-year boys' hostel is located at SBIT Sonepat. The second and third-year boys' hostels are located at Stanford International School, which is managed by COHO. Final year male students are assigned a hostel at the IIT Delhi Techno Campus. Basic facilities, along with mess facilities, are provided.
The girls' hostel, which houses first to fourth-year female students, is also located at the IIT Delhi Techno Campus. This hostel is considered the best among the three, offering good food and various amenities such as Wi-Fi and air conditioning.

I am fresher (2024) so I don't know much about this college till now. But as of now campus is good. Not so big
Canteen is there, and classrooms have airconditioner.

Dislikes

This college is located in remote area, so you need to be in hostel everytime, if you want to go to market you need cab or auto rickshaw will would be costly.
There is no permanent campus. This college runs in SBIT (Sri Balwant Institute of Technology) campus.
Very poor transportation facilities. So don't expect too much from college you need to work very hard.

Faculty members are supportive. They will help you, not everytime but sometimes. You need to work very hard to get some output from it. I am fresher 2024 here so rest I don't know much about this college as of now, bit in future after my first year I will add a detailed review of this college again to let everyone know about this college clearly.

How to get admission in the college?

I chose this college over other colleges because this is the best option I was getting at my JEE main rank. Also this college is pretty near to my hometown in uttar pradesh, it takes about 5 hours to reach the college campus fromy hometown. So I chose this college over other options. Initially in JoSAA counselling I was getting ECE in JNU. But I wanted CSE which I got in first round of CSAB counselling in IIIT Sonepat

IIIT Sonepat review

Admission:

During the CSAB Counselling i also filled many NITs and some IIITs but at last i got IIIT Sonepat. You can get the admission through JOSAA/CSAB after giving JEE Mains. I choose this college over other because i want CSE branch in a national importance college (IIIT SONEPAT). If you belong to general category then you have to achive rank below 40000 in jee mains.

i did not like a lot of thing about the college only thing i like is that the attendance criteria isn't strict

Dislikes

there is no as such campus life its a small campus with very less sports facilities
Girls to boys ratio is negligible, there are like 10 girls in a batch of 180 people
the infrastructure is literally nothing the new campus/official campus is still under construction

I took this college mostly for the fact that this was the closest to my hometown also it had computer science branch where others i qulaified for liek electrical or combined courses. i got admission from NIT Kurukshetra, BITS Pilani and IIIT Gwalior but i didnt get the courses i wanted. the admission process is simple you have to go thorugh JEE Mains.

Canteen is there, and classrooms have airconditioner.
I am fresher (2024) so I don't know much about this college till now. But as of now campus is good. Not so big

Dislikes

There is no permanent campus. This college runs in SBIT (Sri Balwant Institute of Technology) campus.
Very poor transportation facilities. So don't expect too much from college you need to work very hard.
This college is located in remote area, so you need to be in hostel everytime, if you want to go to market you need cab or auto rickshaw will would be costly.

if you want to take admission in the college you have to appear for the jee main entrance exam which is conducted by the NTA ,after passing the exam you have to appear for jossa counselling which will be conducted online ,once you get the seat you need to fill the form circulated by the institute ,and you have to appear in the institute for document verification once documents are verified your admission will be confirmed,NTA conduct the jee main entrance twice in a year in the month of january and april

Seniors are very helpful in both academics and social aspects .
The location of the college is in pretty decent area that is NCR which gives enough exposure towards companies.

Dislikes

The college has no permanent campus but soon we will have as the tender is about to complete on January 2025
Like all other engineering colleges , the facilities are very average

The admission process was similar like other institutions. We were allotted institution in josaa and then we have to physically appear 10 days after csab with documents like fee reciept , aadhar card , seat allotment letter . For general category student the cutoff for cse was around 35k

Review of IIIT Sonepat

Admission:

To take admission in this college the candidate needs to qualify jee mains and register themselves in JOSAA counselling to get a seat.For foreing students DASA is the counseling facility. There are reservations for category but not for female canditate. In a year there are four mid sems each of one hour paper two papers a day which lasts for 3 days. And 2 end sems which are for 3 hours a paper one paper a day and lasts for 2 weeks.The papers are easy and there are practical exams 2 times a year for 2 hours a paper and lasts for 1 week.

IIIT Sonepat: Which one should I choose, NIT Kurukshetra or NIT Bhopal or IIIT Allahabad for an M.Tech in CSE?

I will never recommend you to choose NIT Kurukshetra because the administration is very disappointing and the entire system is in dilapidated condition. The CSE branch specifically is losing its charm. The official records claim some very good professors but the reality is most of them aren’t interested in teaching.

The result is declared after 4 months and the students were given backs by a margin of 1/4 of a mark. The duration of exams is long, giving no time for holidays. The Institute does not encourage any kind of educational tours or summer training. Research work is not promoted in any form. The only reason NIT Kurukshetra is still here is because of the hard work of students who get good packages.

What should my preference be for IIIT Vadodara, IIIT Surat, IIIT Sonepat, and IIIT Kurnool?

I have friends in all the aforementioned colleges and thus am writing this answer based on collective experiences only. From the reviews of their respective colleges, I arrived at the conclusion that IIIT Sonepat is the best option among all these.

IIIT Sonepat fairs are better than the aforementioned institutes in terms of infrastructure, placement fees, etc. Here are a few strong reasons to choose IIIT Sonepat

Sonepat enjoys a good location advantage being located just half an hour away from Delhi.
Located near DU IIT Delhi and other institutes, you can easily enjoy their fests.
IIIT Sonepat is located in Delhi, the educational hub so it offers better coaching opportunities.
IIIT Sonepat has an excellent growth rate in comparison to other IIIT's.

Moreover, judging by my friends' experiences, the preference order I can up with is

IIIT Sonepat>>>>IIIT Surat >IIIT Vadodara>IIIT Kurnool

Direct communication cannot be compared but one of my friends suggested that IIIT Vadodara is an older institute in comparison to the others. The placement officer of IIIT V is good and will be helping in getting good placements by calling good companies to the campus. The college also sends for internships in companies like Amazon. Some of the students also got selected in Google Summer of code.

IIIT Sonepat is much better in terms of placement. The reason is that the companies find it much closer in distance as compared to other institutions. It can be suggested that you first check admission at IIIT Sonepat then at IIIT Vadodara and then go for IIIT Una.

It is always suggested to look for more information from the old alumni IIIT V as they will better tell you about the past placements.

Which is better, IIIT Bhopal or IIIT Sonepat?

As many of my friends have graduated from IIIT Bhopal. So I can assure you IIIT Sonepat is more secure and better than IIIT Bhopal in terms of campus lifestyle, placement opportunities, academic performances, and sports activities, and a lot more.

Campus:

Recently IIIT Sonepat has been shifted to IIT Delhi Technopark, Sonepat which is nothing but an extension campus of IIT Delhi in Sonepat.
On the other hand, you will find IIIT Bhopal is still running in MANIT, Bhopal. Even its permanent campus is way farther than the developed part of the city.
The hostels for the 1st-year students of the IIIT Bhopal are provided in RGPV Bhopal which is 13 km away from MANIT. Consequently, students are driven by bus to the campus, which is quite a waste of time. This is why my friends say hostel life is not that good in IIIT Bhopal.

Among the given choices, IIIT Sonepat is the better choice. My brother is a student of IIIT Sonepat. So, I know a little bit about the institute. so you can have faith in my answer. Currently, they are studying in the Sonepat Campus of IIT Delhi, which is great as you get an opportunity to be in the nation's most prestigious college.

On this campus, there are currently 2 branches, namely CS and IT. In each branch, there are 60 students each.

The main reasons to go for IIIT Sonepat are as follows.

Hostel: The campus is not that big but as it is newly constructed, it has the latest facilities. The hostel rooms are decent. The full hostel building is under a centralized AC/Heater. Rooms are double sharing. Each room has a refrigerator, a LED TV. The hostel and campus are well-maintained. The mess is also well maintained and it is made sure that food is cooked in a hygienic environment.

Fee Structure: The fee structure is affordable to all sections.

Placements: Placements were good in the previous session and most students got placed. Some data from the previous year session are-

Highest package - 40.03 LPA

One of the best features of the campus is, It has one building and different sections are made in it like hotels, classes, a mess. You don't have to walk a lot to reach classes and hence both time and energy are saved.
