NMIMS School of Design Mumbai Course Admission 2025: Dates, Fees, Eligibility, Application Process, Selection Criteria

Ans. NMIMS School of Design Mumbai offers admission to a full-time B.Des program in Humanising Technology and a B.Sc. in Animation & VFX at the undergraduate level. Both of these courses have a duration of four years. Admission is granted based on merit in respective entrance examinations conducted by the institute.

Ans. NMIMS School of Design conducts a Design Aptitude Test popularly referred to as NMIMS-DAT for B.Des. Students have to qualify for this exam to be considered for further rounds of portfolio evaluation and personal interview. There will be four rounds for NMIMS DAT 2024. The institute also conducts an online entrance test for B.Sc. in Animation & VFX. 

Ans. To offer admission to B.Des, NMIMS conducts a Design Aptitude Test in offline mode. NMIMS DAT comprises three rounds; Studio Test, Personal Interview and submission of hard copy of portfolio. Candidates who have appeared and cleared the UCEED Exam and have a valid UCEED score card will be exempted from the Studio test conducted by NMIMS. However, such candidates will have to submit their portfolio and appear for a Personal interview as per the schedule.

Ans. Candidates more than 25 years of age are not eligible to appear for the NMIMS DAT. Only the applicants satisfying the minimum eligibility criteria as prescribed by the institute can apply for B.Des offered by NMIMS School of Design.

Ans. NMIMS School of Design offers B.Des. and B.Sc. courses. A total of 30 students in B.Des and 60 students in B.Sc. are admitted every year to the college. Interested students can apply on the official website. Candidates have to qualify for NMIMS DAT to secure a seat in B.Des and have to qualify for an online entrance exam for B.Sc.

Ans. NMIMS-DAT (NMIMS – Design Aptitude Test) comprises of Studio Test, Portfolio Review and Personal Interview. The studio test will be conducted in offline mode. A hard copy of the Portfolio is to be presented to the Personal interview panel as soon as the candidates go inside the Personal Interview room as per the allotted time. 

• Studio Test comprises of two sections: Part A: MCQs (20 Minutes) and Part B: Design Challenge (60 Minutes).

The MCQs will be comprised of questions on Visual & Spatial ability, Environmental & Social Awareness, Logical reasoning and Observation & Memory. The design challenge will require problem-solving and sketching of the concept for which the applicant needs to carry the following:

• Cartridge paper A3 size
• Pencil HB/2B, 4B/6B, erasers, sharpener, pencil colours, Sketch pens etc.

Usage of scale is strictly prohibited in the studio test/ design challenge.

Ans. NMIMS School of Design B.Des fee is INR 4,55,000 for the first year. The fee might change for the academic year starting from 2024. The application fee for B.Des is INR 2000 at NMIMS School of Design.

Ans. If a student chooses to withdraw from the course in which he/she is enrolled at NMIMS School of Design, the institute shall follow the following five-tier system for the refund of fees remitted by the student:

Ans. NMIMS School of Design offers a four-year B.Sc. program in Animation & VFX. Candidate must have passed 10+2 (Science/ Commerce/ Arts) or equivalent examination from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks to be eligible for the course. The last date of registration for the Computer Based Test for B.Sc. is June 02, 2024.

Ans. To apply for B.Des in NMIMS School of Design, the candidate must have passed Class XII with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized board in any field. International Baccalaureate Diploma (I.B. certificate / & D.P. awarded candidates) are eligible only if they have cleared their I.B. exam with a total of 24 credits (compulsory) and passed 3 H.L. & 3 S.L. mandatorily.
