The faculty at Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences is highly experienced and efficient, with more than 100 lecturers who are all doctors. The institute offers a comprehensive curriculum across four years, with subjects such as anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology in the first year, and continues to cover various medical disciplines up to the fourth year. Each department has 8 to 10 lecturers, including doctors serving as Heads of Departments and professors, providing both theoretical and practical education.
Despite some reports of boring lectures and staff shortages in the prefinal and final years, the faculty is generally well-regarded for their approachability and practical experience, as they are actively involved in hospital work. The curriculum follows the revised competency-based medical education (CBME) guidelines and emphasizes clinical exposure. Students have access to mentors, with one mentor for every seven students, and the examination system includes yearly exams and internal assessments, with results announced promptly.
