IIIT Dharwad B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

• For the General Category, candidates must have passed the Class 12 board examination from a recognized board with at least 75% marks. Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry should be included as compulsory subjects.

• For SC, ST, and PWD category students, they should have at least 65% in aggregate. A relief of 10% is awarded to the reserved category candidates.
• Students also need to appear for the JEE Main examination.

IIIT Dharwad provides an M.Tech research program, which costs INR 86,200 for the first year as per the 2026 academic year. Students can apply for research in different areas like AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Data analytics, IoT & Automation, Cyber security, Blockchain, cloud computing, and networks. Applications are accepted throughout the year, as the institute accepts applications on a rolling basis.

IIIT Dharwad M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

• Students need to have a minimum degree in B.Tech/B.E./ M.Sc/MCA or equivalent degree in engineering/IT/Science disciplines in relevant areas.
• For General/OBC category students, a minimum of 6 CPI/CGPA or 60% in aggregate is mandatory.
• For the SC/ST/PwD category, a minimum of 6 CGPA/CPI or 55% in aggregate is required. 5% relaxation is given to the reserved category students.

• Students must have a Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology in a relevant discipline.
• B.Tech/M.Sc degree in engineering/technology in a relevant discipline is also permissible.

IIIT Dharwad Ph.D Selection Criteria

• Shortlisted Applicants need to appear for a screening test conducted by the institute.
• The screening test consists of Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and analytical writing. Objective-type questions are given in the test.
• An interview round is scheduled as well for the students who qualify for the screening test. Fundamentals of knowledge of the research subject are tested during the interview.
