All about Government medical College kannur

Likes

Affordability: As a government medical college, it offers affordable medical education compared to private institutions, making it accessible to a broader segment of society.
Gmc kannur have a big Central library for students with working AC & wifi, which provided a good environment for students to study
Gmc kannur have a biggest ground in kerala, where students can play football, cricket, running etc..

Dislikes

Hostels are very much conjusted, we have to share rooms with 2-3 people & buliding is also very old....
Conectivity with the city - Campus is situated 30km from the kannur city.. which I think is not good about clg, for for small small things we have to travel 30km
Food - For North Indian people especially who are veg it is to much difficult to survive, veg food quality is very bad

Internships Opportunities:

After clearing mbbs final year exam we have to do mandatory one year internship in our own medical hospital... We have to do posting for one month each in every department .. we have to go into OPD, rounds and wards... Kerala government pay 27000 per month during internship

Experience in GMC Kannur.

Likes

Nice infrastructure. Required patient input. Cleanliness in the campus is ensured .
Supportive faculty. Best lecture classes. Current boys: girls ratio of my batch is 1:3
For 1 year of internship we get around 25k per month. Transportation facility is available for hostellers

Dislikes

Hostel is so old. There will be water scarcity sometimes.
No transportation facility for Morning and evening
There is no bus stand or railway station near the campus

Internships Opportunities:

After 4.5 years of studying 2 year of internship must be completed. We get 25k to 30k monthly for internship. There is no campus placement facilities.House Surgency must be completed in various departments for variable periods.

GMC Kannur - Place Where Our Heart Gets Fulfilled.

Likes

The arts and sports fests are really interesting and we all got opportunities to showcast ourselves.
I was an introvert but going there I was able to show my talents in music.
The teachers are almost strict still they help us to get attendance and they gives us good presentation on topics.

Dislikes

There many grasses and rags which has to be cleaned.
Hostels need to be improved and should be maintained good hygiene.
There are 3 lifts in college and most of the times all three never works together either of them gets damaged.

Internships Opportunities:

We do internship in our college itself and we get stipend of almost 28000rs. As I'm second year student I don't have much knowledge about internship things. As I see from my seniors we do internship from our college itself and after internship we always look forward for our PG/MD options.

Campus has a amphitheatre that provides a good environment
College campus is very large and vast in real life.
Placements are very good and has a nice payout

Dislikes

The campus is too large and accessibility is low
The classes are too hectic to follow and a lot of workload

Many government and private colleges have enrolled in the college to provide internship opportunities with a starting stipend of 30000rs. The internships provide us a good chance to excel in our skills.

The college ambiance is very good as it is some what rural area
The college is lenient in strictness compared other college
The college hostel is ragging free and it enable us to have care free stay

Dislikes

Rural area lead to lesser availability of commodities
Water scarcity is very of a burden in this area
As close to forest the night life are filled with wilde animals as companions

The intership opportunity provided by the college include a month course of interaship with a bery considerable payment as we work under different department. It can be said to be the culmination of 5 years of hard work. The intership os the opportunity that makes a doctor doctor

A lot of patients present with variety of cases .practical knowledge can be increased by interacting with them
The college is gifted with experienced doctors in clinical side they can teach us very well.which help us to become doctors with sound knowledge.
Mens hostel has no time restrictions . So we can execute our time as per our wish.hostel life teaches us how to live.

Dislikes

Some of the departments have no sufficient faculties which is draw back in academic session. It should be changed.
All departments will complete their alloted portions for exams but some lecture classes are not understandable/boring
Our college is some what far for a town /city .for enjoying city life we want to travel about 20 minutes

Internships Opportunities:

Internship of twelve months Salary of Rs 26000 per month It is helpful to apply our clinical skills in patients and learn more and rectify our mistakes as we are emerging doctors in the society After completing internship one can practice independently

I liked my college festival and cultural

I didn't like my hostel it is too hot inside

Likes

Faculties are very good. They are really supportive
We have got a big play ground. Were we can play football. Also it is associated with synthetic track
Library facilites are really good . There is central library with many resources

Dislikes

Hostels could be improved. Amenities can be increased
Street lights are not working properly. So it is scary to out durung night
Campus is open. So there is outsiders also, so privacy wise there is little shortage

Internships Opportunities:

After 4 years of learing we must undergo 1 year of internship which is Housesurgency in this collge. Durung this period we wil be posted in different departments and we would lear how to treat a patient in general. Basic surgeries also will be performed .
