Admission to the college is managed through CENTAC, using scores from both CENTAC 2000 and the 12th Board Exam. Application forms can be obtained from government agencies or the PEC administrative office, with notifications released post-Board Exams via local newspapers and banks. For example, an out-of-state applicant may need a score of 82 in JEE Main. Students start by integrating with peers from different departments, and the college features a diverse and qualified faculty, including industry-experienced visiting lecturers.
The fee structure is considered reasonable, especially for day scholars, though hostel residents pay additional fees. Campus placements occur before final exams, with about 250 students securing positions annually, although opportunities for Chemical and Civil Engineering students are fewer. Internships are not mandatory and mainly focus on industrial training and skill development, often without pay, though companies may offer stipends or salary increases later. Financial aid is available through the Kamaraj Adi Dravidar Welfare scheme, covering full college fees for eligible SC students, with initial fees around 25,000 and each semester costing about 13,000.
Any leftover scholarship funds are provided to students, but hostel fees remain a possible burden for those living on campus.
