Vimala College, Thrissur is a prestigious Christian educational institution for female students in the state of Kerala. The college is under the CMC Management and is affiliated to the University of Calicut. It was established in 1967 following bifurcation from St Mary’s College, Thrissur. In the year 2015, Vimala College received its Autonomous status.
The college currently offers sixteen UG courses in BA, B.Sc. & B.Com and thirteen PG courses in MA, MSW, M.Com and M.Sc, and is a Centre for Research in English, Commerce and Physics offering Ph.D. program.

Vimala College, Thrissur offers doctoral level/ research program in the disciplines of Arts, Science, and Commerce through three research centers, viz. English Research Centre Vimala College, Calicut University; Commerce Research Centre, Vimala College, Calicut University; and Physics Research Centre, Vimala College, Calicut University.
The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the Ph.D. courses is a Master’s degree (with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks) in the relevant discipline from a recognized university. Selection of candidates is done on the basis of entrance test (conducted by the institute) score followed by a personal interview session.
