VJEC: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 11 Reviews

Admission to Vimal Jyothi Engineering College (VJEC) relies on the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) entrance exam scores and plus two scores, with selection based on college rank. There are up to four allotments for government seats, and candidates can opt for management or NRI seats if necessary. The admission process includes an interview and document submission. The college is supported by a highly qualified faculty, and while committed to teaching, some faculty are strict, impacting internal marks and attendance.

The course spans four years with a structured fee system. The annual tuition fee is Rs 75,000, with the total yearly cost including additional expenses approximating Rs 1,20,000, and the entire course costing around Rs 5 lakhs. Scholarships are offered based on merit and socioeconomic factors, and education loans are available. NRI students have higher fees of about Rs 1.5 lakhs annually. The college's placement cell organizes drives from the 7th semester, attracting companies like Infosys, Wipro, and Amazon.

Placement packages range from Rs 1.2 to Rs 9 lakhs per annum, with better opportunities in Computer Science, Electronics, and EEE. Mechanical and Civil Engineering departments have fewer placements. Despite promotional claims of 100% placement, job opportunities are mainly in IT and marketing, requiring high CGPAs. Limited local internships are available, and extra courses like CNC and robotics are offered for a fee. Scholarships include the Egrants for OEC students, reducing costs significantly, and the Tuition Fee Waiver for top students, exempting them from annual fees.

Additional scholarships support students with high entrance scores, PCM excellence, and those from minority or economically weaker sections. The college also aids in securing educational loans, benefitting defense and ex-military families as well. Regular tuition fees amount to Rs 97,000 annually, with options for financial support through scholarships and loans making education at VJEC relatively affordable.
