Not a bad college for geology

Likes

Staffs are friendly and they will guide you if you ask any queries
Department museum is old but has lot of precious minerals and fossil collection
They provide field trip on 2nd year and 3 rd year

Dislikes

Classes won't be regular and only 2 permenant staffs are there
Internal and model exams aren't conducted in a good manner
Teachers have knowledgeand experience but they will use less in classes

Internships Opportunities:

Cgwb besant nagar will provide you internship and some others like Tamilnadu mineral department , and some cement industry in salem etc ... but you need your hod approval for applying internship and you should go via him

The architecture of the college, the old Italian architecture will make us feel to stay inside, It will be so awesome.
The contacts that the college college helped me to build, I will be always grateful to that.
The history of Presidency college will make you get goosebumps, which is of next level.

Dislikes

The current status of the college, the politics that exists which is of no use. The college is loosing the confort.
The professors are outdated, they should be liable for modren trend and ifes.
The syatem that exists over there, which makes the college values down..

Placement Experience:

Actually the college provides placement for the students and especially to the lower background students at the max. The college collaoborate with the govt. dept. to create placement drives in the college. The salary is not that much attractive still its okay only.

Likes

College environment is fabulous since it was established in 1845
Exposures from the industrialists creates an opportunity to interact

Dislikes

Infrastructure is not bad but there needs a proper maintenance
Lack of cultural activities, celebrating only few important functions
Lack of proper ground facilities with sports equipments

We have to get the letter of recommendation from the head of the department to apply internships most of students gets internship in laboratories and manufacturing sides to get an idea about industrial knowledge

A comprehensive review of Geology Department in Presidency college Chennai

Likes

Admission process is not difficult, application is done on online process they'll publish a detailed rank list with respective categories and they will make a call if we're selected and entire admission procedure will be on the same day
Syllabus is good and there is no rush in completing the syllabus
College atmosphere is good and we can get lot a exposures from the industrial experts

Dislikes

Placements are not good it's averaging only 350000
Lack of assistant professors makes a big concern
Lack of infrastructure and canteens are not good enough

Oil and natural gas corporation, central ground water board, tamilnadu water and supply department, national institute of oceanography, national institute of ocean technology, Atomic minerals department these are the few companies which offers internship but mostly with non stipend

The college has a general library with a broad selection of book
The teachers are more experienced and experts and the teaching method is very effective
The college building and classrooms are very spacious and clean

Dislikes

There is no toilet for each departments, it is very difficult
There no arts and other festivals in college
They only giving important to tamil language, not speaking English and other language, in class as well

Internships Opportunities:

There is not much internship programs in college and placement also not so great, In us Embassy we have one seminar and they will providing many interniship programs. And this internship program helps us to increase our capability.

One of the thing I like most is the infrastructure of my college because our college is made by the British so it gives a legacy look to our building
I also like the students and campus life because all the students are so corporative and friendly
I also like the library of my college because our library is made in 1850 so we have a lot of books in our library from that time itself

One thing I don’t like is the lack of maintenance in our college
The over use of tamil language and less use of English

Friendly staffs to students and they teaching method are in excellent
Stress free environment and pressureless studies and enjoyable of studies
Caring staffs , Fun in college, culturals and tour etc for students

The facilities of the college are not excell, And it need improvements
The infrastructure also is not reasonable for students.
The food in hostel is moderate medium and toilets in hostel also need improvement

My Opinion about Presidency

Likes

College buildings are old and huge giving a different atmosphere.
The faculty members are qualified and very supportive.

Dislikes

The lack of festives and social events in the college.

Placement Experience:

The college does provide placements in the third and final year. But since I'm in second year right now, I can't provide much information about it. I am planning to pursue a professional course after getting my degree.
