Ananda Mohan College was established in 1961 and is one of the first evening colleges in Kolkata. The college is run by the Brahmo Samaj Education Society (BSES) and belongs to the City Group of Colleges. The college offers various UG and PG courses in the departments of Science, Commerce, Humanities and Social Science.

The college offers admission in B.A, B.Sc and B.Com programs in General as well as Honors modes. Minimum eligibility for Honors programs is a pass in 10+2 with 50% (40% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate along with 45% marks in the relevant subject. For General courses, only a pass in 10+2 is required.
Admission is offered on the basis of merit in the last qualifying examination. The college also offers direct admission to Second Year of the program.

Key Points:
- Marks obtained in Environmental Science as the main subject at 10+2 level will not be considered for the calculation of marks at 10+2 level.
- Those students who have completed their 10+2 from boards other than WBCHSE/ISC or CBSE need to produce an authentication certificate at the time of admission.
- Those students who have passed 10+2 in Science stream need to secure pass marks in Mathematics in case they are applying for B.Com Hons. in Accounting & Finance program.
- For B.Sc (Hons.) and B.Sc (General) program, a pass in Chemistry is mandatory at 10+2 level.
- The students from Agriculture and Vocational stream are not eligible to apply except for BA General.
- The candidates who have passed 10+2 in Vocational stream in Business and Commerce conducted by WB State Council of Vocational Education and Training will be eligible to apply for B.Com. General programs.
