College of Teacher Education (PGT) provides the teacher training programmes for both pre-service and in-service teachers at secondary level .It is first ever teacher training institutes of shillong state. The primary focus of the college is to develop professionally excellent, compassionate teachers, who will be the torch bearers of society and civilization. The training for the students over there is given in such a manner that they can serve the society with zeal and lot of dedication. As the college is very well established the faculty over there has a lot years experience in molding their students into teachers of high standards.

The College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong, conducts its B.Ed. admissions through an entrance examination and a personal interview are held each year in April or May. For the 2025–2027 academic session, applications are expected to open in May 2025
Candidates with at least 45% marks in the Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree with at least two school subjects at the graduation level are eligible for admission. Seats are reserved for ST / SC / OBC and physically-handicapped students. To clear the backlog of untrained teachers, some seats are also reserved for candidates who do not qualify on the basis of the marks obtained at the Bachelor’s Degree, but who have three years of teaching experience. You can apply offline for the admisison.
You can apply offline for the admisisons, the admissions are based on the marks obtained din the previous qualifying examinations. You must have done graduation for the admission into he BEd course at the college.
