Eligibility Criteria
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with at least 55% of marks in aggregate from a recognized University.
For SC / ST categories a relaxation of 5% will be applicable on all schools tabled above. In case the score is available on a letter-grade system or grade-point system, the University expects a minimum equivalent of prescribed percentage of marks in aggregate as per the awarding University’s norms for conversion to a percentage.
Admission Guidelines
Selection Process:
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their academic records and Statement of Purpose (SoP). The shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for XIM Research Aptitude Test (XRAT), followed by Research Presentation, and Personal Interview, the details of which will be communicated in due course. Details about XRAT is available separately on our website www.xim.edu.in/admission.
Candidates who have qualified UGC NET-JRF (Category-1: JRF) will be exempted from XRAT. However, they will take part in the other selection processes as listed above.
Candidates qualified in UGC-NET (Category-2: Assistant Professor and Category-3: Admission to Ph.D) may appear for XRAT (Conducted by XIM University) to become eligible for a University Scholarship based on merit. These candidates are required to take part in the other selection processes as listed above.
The coursework for the selected candidates is expected to commence from June/July 2025.
Course Details
XIMB PhD (Doctor of Philosophy - Full Time) is a Doctoral Level Program. Candidates with a Master’s Degree and valid scores in X-RAT / UGC NET - JRF are eligible to apply for the Program. Candidates are expected to complete the Program in 5 Years.
Based on the Results of Admission Process, Deserving Candidates are granted University Scholarship (INR 30,000 Per Month) for a duration of 4 Years.

XIMB PhD (Full-Time) Selection Criteria
- 4-Year / 8-Semester Bachelor’s Degree with Research or equivalent (BE/BTech, BSc-Agriculture and Allied Sciences etc.) with 75% Marks or equivalent CGPA OR
- Master’s or equivalent Degree with 60% Marks OR
- Students in their Final Year of Examination.
- Statement of Purpose (SOPs).
- Valid Scores in X-RAT / UGC NET - JRF.

XIMB PhD (Full-Time) Admission Process is as follows:
- Candidates are Shortlisted based on their Academic Records and SOPs.
- Shortlisted Candidates are required to appear for X-RAT, Subject Test (if applicable), Presentation & Personal Interview (PI).
- Candidates who have qualified UGC NET-JRF within 3 Years will be exempted from X-RAT.

- Make payment of INR 1,600/- (Non-refundable) towards the Application Fee to complete the application process.

Ques. Does XIMB provide Financial support to PhD students?
Ans. XIMB offers a “University Sponsored” scholarship worth INR 30,000 per month to scholars joining the program for 4 years.
Ques. Which title is conferred after completion of the XIMB PhD course?
Ans. After successful completion of all requirements of the program, the PhD student has conferred the title of Doctor of Philosophy in Business Management at the annual convocation of the university.
Ques. Can final-year students apply to the PhD course from XIMB?
Ans. Yes, the candidate can apply to the PhD program at Xavier University, Bhubaneswar in the final year of the Master's degree program on successfully meeting two conditions:
- Completing the final part of the degree examinations by June 15 of the admission year.
- Submitting final results by September 30 of the admission year.
Ques. Does XIMB provide a part-time PhD?
Ans. Yes, the institute provides a part-time PhD program that has been designed to cater to the scholarly needs of candidates who are in full-time employment.
Ques. What is the difference between Domain (Category-I) and Other (Category-II) candidates of XIMB PhD course?
Ans. The Domain (Category-I) candidates after joining shall start with the doctoral coursework. However, the Other (Category-II) candidates after joining will need to attend the domain-related master-level courses as prescribed by the School Research Committee during the first year in the program. The doctoral level coursework for Other (Category-II) begins from 2nd year onwards.
