Batch size is an important factor because marketing companies mostly recruit a maximum of 3-4 candidates at a time, whereas finance companies generally recruit 7-8 people. However, IMT Ghaziabad is known for its marketing course and there are decent companies that come for recruitment. Whether having 20 months of IT experience will affect your chances at the placements or not depends on how you and your classmates perform on that particular day. Keep in mind that the requirements of companies have changed and many IT firms now recruit freshers, non-engineers, and non-IT background people as well. So, you never know what opportunities may be available to you.

A quick suggestion is not to panic and sit for a company that you wouldn't have considered under any other circumstances. Don't act desperate. With 12-24 months of work experience, you are in a good position and will have the opportunity to apply to most companies. So, you don't have to worry as much as the freshers or those with 3+ years of experience do.

So if you really want to pursue a career in Finance after your MBA from IMT Ghaziabad, you can try CFA, and FRM and have some past background in Finance

The executive course at IMT Ghaziabad is quite good. They have concise and to-the-point courses and complete almost the whole two-year program in one year. Placements for executive students may not be as many, as most of them are already working, but they do help in placements for other students.

If you choose to pursue a correspondence course, it does not matter as much where you pursue it.

IIM Shillong, being an IIM, has its own prestige. But when compared to all B-schools Rankings, IMT Ghaziabad is definitely higher up the charts than IIM Shillong or SPJAIN PGDM. If given the option, it would be better to choose IMT Ghaziabad or IIM Shillong over SPJAIN PGDM. If you are looking for a campus experience, Ghaziabad would be a better personal preference.

This is because there are better career and placement opportunities at IMT Ghaziabad. The college is also well known for its established base in marketing and it has good opportunities for students in all areas of it.

I can say with certainty that IMT Ghaziabad’s placement figures are highly inflated mainly because my own sister was a victim of the same. The placement committee portrays the inflated packages in different ways. The situation is worse at IMT Delhi. The students who join such colleges are mainly drawn because of the placement reports feeling wronged and rightly so.

IMT Ghaziabad’s summer placements witnesses most of the batch receiving stipends of around 15-20k only. Some students even have to go for unpaid internships. Most of the students get placed in start-ups only.

The final placements are all the more inflated with so many hidden variables that make it even impossible to identify the root cause of inflation. A major part of the batch receives an in-hand salary of around 60-65k only.

The new IIMs also have inflated placement figures but this problem is way more serious at private institutes like IMT, NMIMS, SIBM, and SCMHRD. The real average package offered at IMT Ghaziabad is around INR 10 LPA only. Many students are offered packages as low as 5-6 LPA while many remain unplaced.
