LR Institute of Engineering and Technology was established in the year 2008 as a part of LR Group of Institutions. This institute is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HIMTU) and is located in Solan, Himachal Pradesh.

LR Institute offers four-year, full-time B.Tech program in 6 disciplines. The college also offers B.Tech Lateral Entry admission.
Candidates seeking admission for B.Tech program should have passed 10+2 examination with minimum 45% marks and Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Biology/ Biotechnology as one of the subjects form a recognized board or equivalent accepted by the University. The basic eligibility for admission to B.Tech (Lateral-Entry) program is 10+3 Diploma in a relevant field from a recognized University or equivalent accepted by the university.
Admission to B.Tech is done on the basis of JEE Main or HPCET followed by counselling process conducted by HIMTU. Admission criterion for B.Tech (Lateral-Entry) course is based on merit in the qualifying examination followed by counselling process conducted by HIMTU.

- The candidates with B.Sc. degree can also apply for B.Tech (Lateral-Entry) program, provided the candidate should have studied Mathematics as a subject in degree level or 10+2 level.
- 50% of seats will be filled based on the students rank in JEE Main and the remaining 50% seats will be filled by the rank in HPCET.
- The minimum cut-off marks for admission in the HIMTU counselling for JEE Main is 15% marks, for HPCET is 20% marks and for 10+2 examination is 55% marks.
- There is a relaxation of 5% marks for reserved category candidates.
- 15% of seats in the institute are filled through management quota.
