JNGEC admission into the B.Tech program, applicants must have a 10+2 examination in which they had Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) with a recognized board of school education.

JGEC admission to the B. Tech programs is subject to the condition that students must have sat for and attained a passing mark for 10 + 2 with at least Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry (or an equivalent subject) with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories). Selection in this institute is based on a student’s marks in either the Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) or JEE Main, with the final admission decision reliant on this rank. Admission is also through counselling, with 50% of seats being filled on HPCET rank, while the remaining 50% will be filled by merit of JEE Main. Furthermore, 85% of the total seats are reserved for the domiciled candidates from Himachal Pradesh, while the remaining 15% are open to be applied for by candidates from any state through the All India Quota (AIQ).
