IGIT Sarang is one of the best government colleges in Orissa. It is also only one government college of Orissa that are eligible to submit an Institutional Development Proposal. The admission process for Electrical Engineering is based on the results of JEE Main and Orissa-JEE.

Placement Statistics

• Companies like Ananda, Bhushan Steel, Infosys, Kanbay international, Larsen and Toubro, Satyam Computers, TATA Consultancy Services, Visa Steel, etc visit the campus every year in search of good placements. 
• The average salary offered to students is 4 lakhs and the highest salary package is up to 10 lakhs. 

Class Composition 2019-20

• A total of 142 students are enrolled in B.Tech Mechanical Engineering.
• 54 students were present in M.Tech whereas 78 students enrolled in the Diploma program.

• The previous year placement cell of the college didn't contact any other company then T.C.S., and the remote location of the college would also be considered as a big issue. Big companies like Deloitte, I.B.M., Robert Bosch, etc. mostly conducted their pool drive in private colleges in Bhubaneswar among which some government colleges for also invited. 
• IGIT was not asked because the placement cell never contacted them for placements. A new placement cell head was appointed last year, and a lot of steps are still to be taken to improve the placement results. 

Infrastructure:

• IGIT Sarang has a fully equipped hostel and college which separate hostels for students of all years.

• The Department of Chemical Engineering at IGIT Sarang has equipped laboratories namely fluid flow lab, chemical technology lab, fuel technology lab, heat transfer lab, mass transfer lab, process control lab, chemical reaction engineering lab, and computer-aided design lab.

The college is now conducting pre-placement training, workshops and gate classes for students in a final and pre-final year. Also, the student is being prepared for exams like cubes, A.M.C.A.T., eLitmus for placements. For the next placement season, the placement cell has started working and contacted many companies.
