TMC M.Sc FAQs

Ques. Is the M.Sc degree from TMC awarded by TMC or by a university?

Ans. The degree is awarded by HBNI, a deemed-to-be university under the Department of Atomic Energy. TMC is a constituent institution; students complete the programme at TMC but receive an HBNI degree, which is a nationally recognised central university qualification.

Ques. Do M.Sc students at TMC receive a stipend?

Ans. M.Sc students pay the programme fee of INR 1,05,000. Select students may receive a stipend as per TMC/HBNI norms, but this is not guaranteed for all. Candidates should confirm stipend eligibility for their chosen specialisation directly with TMC’s academic office before joining.

Ques. Can candidates from non-oncology backgrounds apply for TMC M.Sc?

Ans. Yes. Eligibility is open to graduates in Bioscience, Chemistry, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Public Health, MBBS, BDS, B.Pharm, and paramedical disciplines. A non-oncology background does not disqualify a candidate provided the qualifying degree and 50% marks requirement is met.

Ques. Is hostel accommodation available for outstation M.Sc students at TMC?

Ans. Hostel accommodation may be available on payment basis, subject to availability. Hostel charges are billed separately from the programme fee. Candidates should contact TMC’s accommodation office well in advance of joining as availability may be limited.

Ques. How competitive is admission to TMC’s M.Sc programmes?

Ans. Admission is competitive given TMC’s reputation. Seats are limited and candidates from across India apply. The written test is the primary filter with a minimum 50% score required to proceed to interview. Strong preparation in the relevant subject area and close monitoring of TMC’s official notifications is advised.

Ques. What career opportunities does an M.Sc from TMC open up?

Ans. TMC M.Sc graduates hold an HBNI degree and are well regarded in clinical research organisations, hospitals, nuclear medicine facilities, public health agencies, and academia. Specialisations like Nuclear Medicine Technology and Clinical Research are in strong demand in the pharmaceutical and CRO sectors. Many alumni also pursue doctoral research at HBNI after completing the M.Sc.

The admission is still done based on NEET exam followed by AIM counselling, however if you don’t belong to home state, then you need to provide a domicile or resident certificate during the time of document verification.
