TMC M.Ch FAQs

Ques. Which M.Ch specialisation at TMC has the highest fees?

Ans. M.Ch (Head and Neck Surgery) has the highest total fees at INR 3,91,500 for the 3-year programme. The other three specialisations (Gynae-Oncology, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Surgical Oncology) are each priced at INR 3,46,000.

Ques. Is NEET-SS mandatory for M.Ch admission at TMC or does TMC conduct its own entrance test?

Ans. NEET-SS conducted by NBE is mandatory. TMC does not conduct a separate entrance test. Admission to all M.Ch specialisations at TMC is through MCC super-specialty counselling based on NEET-SS rank and the candidate’s specialisation preference.

Ques. What is the feeder MS degree required for M.Ch Surgical Oncology at TMC?

Ans. Candidates must hold MS General Surgery or an equivalent DNB from an NMC-recognised institution to be eligible for M.Ch (Surgical Oncology) at TMC. The same MS General Surgery degree is also a feeder for M.Ch (Gynae-Oncology), M.Ch (Head and Neck Surgery), and M.Ch (Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) at TMC.

Ques. How competitive is getting an M.Ch seat at TMC through NEET-SS?

Ans. TMC seats are among the most sought-after super-specialty positions in India given its status as Asia’s leading cancer centre. Competition is extremely high and candidates typically need a very high NEET-SS rank to secure a TMC seat through MCC counselling. Candidates should also keep alternative high-ranking oncology institutes as backup preferences.

Ques. Does TMC provide a stipend to M.Ch fellows during training?

Ans. Stipend details for M.Ch fellows at TMC are governed by TMC internal policy under the Department of Atomic Energy. Stipend amounts and terms are best confirmed directly with the TMC academic office at the time of admission or through the MCC counselling notification.

The admission is still done based on NEET exam followed by AIM counselling, however if you don’t belong to home state, then you need to provide a domicile or resident certificate during the time of document verification.
