The life of a medico in a government medical college

It's a great place to learn a lot of clinical knowledge as the government hospital which our college tied up has lot of clinical knowledge to acquire with so many patients with various types of diseases
High Patient Load: These hospitals serve a massive, diverse patient population daily. This high patient load provides students with extensive exposure to a wide variety of diseases and complex, rare clinical cases, which is crucial for developing dia
Merit-Based Admission: Admission to these colleges is highly competitive and purely based on merit (high NEET scores), meaning the student body is generally composed of high-performing, dedicated peers.

Dislikes

Old Buildings: The campus buildings, lecture halls, and hostels can be quite old, often lacking the modern, air-conditioned amenities that newer private colleges might offer.
Poor Sanitation: Due to the massive patient load and often underfunded cleaning contracts, the general sanitation and hygiene in the attached public hospitals can be poor, creating a challenging environment for students and patients.
Overcrowding: The hospitals are often severely overcrowded, which means students have to jostle for learning opportunities and work in high-stress, chaotic environments.

Admission:

Our college is a government medical college.. the admission into this college is completely merit based and this is one of the prestigious institutes of the state and the college itself encourages sports and friendly staff and great clinical knowledge.. which no other colleges can promise

The patient outflow in the hospital is good so we can learn more number of cases

There are no sports and games provided to a good extent
The hostel is not good and there is ragging in hostel

Experiencing first year at Government Siddhartha Medical College

Likes

The equipment are up to the standards required.
Well experienced profeesors and good environment.
It is a good environment for sports and other activities too.

Admission:

I actually expected of joining Andhra Medical College as it is a top college in AP. But I lost the chance by 10 - 15 marks. But overall this college is also upto the mark. The eligibility is passing intermediate and NEET.

Everything about my college

Likes

Infrastructure is very good with lot of modern equipment, teachers teach very well . We should appreciate the management for their maintenance every class is monitored and exams are well organised.numbers of other activities are appreciated
Medical services are very good with super speciality hospital and out patients are more as compared to other colleges ...beside residing in the center of the city it has more number of patients inflow creating more clinical knowledge to the students
Career opportunities are wonderful also providing great clinical knowledge hospital is well maintained and equipment are well maintained .

Dislikes

Some parts of the hospital and hostel are still underdeveloped they need to look into it as soon as possible . mainly old hostel washrooms need more care
Hospital cleaning management should improve and more rooms should be provided for the ug students and interns in the hospital wards .proper gate keeping of patients attenders should be maintained for the safe guard of the health care workers
Intership duties are quite thoughtful obviously because of the government hospital patient flow so proper management and working hours should be maintained in the future helping the upcoming batches to have an easy work experience

Admission:

I have applied the other best medical colleges but got selected for this college becy of the all india ranking and the state merit Ranking The admission process requires your allotment letter with payment of 10000 ? for the seat confirmation We need to give neet exam for pursuing MBBS course in our college and can get seat allotment either through all india counselling or state counselling For our college and OC candidate should bag a rank upto 25000 OBC candidates with 50-60000 rank SC/ST 70-85000 RANK

Sliver linings of a medico in SMC

Likes

Infrastructure was good not great though, but can be improved .
Clinical exposure and in-hand experience are great helped me alot to improve my clinical skills . There's no procedure such as placements but doing MBBS here gives good impression on resume
Ofcourse the course is quite rigorous and the training we went through is quite worth it . Got the opportunity to learn from great faculty who are quite named persons in their profession.

Dislikes

Transport facility is not available if available can be of great help for day scholars.
Resting rooms are not available for junior doctors and the washroom infrastructure can be improved.
In internship working hours are quite hectic which can extend to 40hts at a stretch.

Admission:

I obviously chose this college because it's one of the prestigious government medical Colleges and it's near to my hometown making it easier for me to be a day scholar. I also applied for Andhra medical College, which has good rating compared to my college I can get a seat here but I chose to stay near my home town . In order to join MBBS you need to clear the NEET UG exam with good marks and a decent rank. The cut-off varies with each year.

I wrote neet exam as an entrance exam and I have received a certain rank of 99989 and I have received seat in this college the counselling process was easy and smooth I have applied to various colleges in various states and I have received admissions in few and finally I have taken seat in this college and it was a great decision and easy application.

Days at SMC

Likes

Have very good faculty and seniors to interact and have fun with
Can play any sport and there many other cultural activities to take part in
Fest and many other activities are conducted annually

Dislikes

The weather is not that good around here
Some seniors are thrash and no proper working conditions

Admission:

For a seat in government medical College u gotta write NEET entrance exam. Then u gotta attend the councelling process. Once you get alloted to a college of your choice, you submit your certificates and most of the application process is easily done afterwards

My college experience

Likes

As my college is placed in heart of Vijayawada city it is easy for any kind of things to do
Good play ground with full eminites and there is separate physical director for it
Good faculty has been provided who are masters in their respective subjects

Dislikes

As it was established around 1980 building was little bit old
Some more basic eminites need to be provided as it is big campus some shortages are there still
Ground is maintained properly during rainy season

Admission:

By writing the NEET exam we got eligibility to this college all the application details are given by the national testing agency that conducts the NEET exam and we need to go through web-based counseling conducted by YSRUHS after selecting options according to our score and rank we will get the respective college after that we need to report to the college and then we need to submit our original certificates of 10th and 12th grade they will give some forms we need to fill that accordingly.

Likes

The College was good with amazing faculty
College was attached with government general hospital with very good no of OPD
Various number of sports activities for students

Dislikes

As it was a government maintained college it hasless maintenance
Old infrastructure in all the department
Not ready to accomidate extra students in coming years

Admission:

Admission was given through National eligibility cum enternance test (NEET) Councilling Definitely should pass your plus one and plus two with minimum marks set by the board of secondary education of your state and you attend for NEET exam Cutoff for my college in 2021 year was around 30k all India rank

Flexible college

Likes

Students eco-friendly environment and faculty
We can do whatever we want with flexible environment
Good sports and social activities occurs randomly

Dislikes

To learn more we should have to interact more with faculty which is more difficult in case of introvert
Slightly seniors superiority shown inside college hostel may cause mental health disturbance
