GSMC offers admission to UG, PG and Doctoral in Multiple Disciplines, such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, and Paramedical. Admission to all the courses at GSMC is 12th merit & NEET UG entrance-based. BPT, MBBS & MPT are the flagship courses offered by GSMC
Candidates applying for admission into MBBS program at GSMC Mumbai, candidates are required to take the NEET UG examination, followed by a counselling process that decides seat distribution. For allocation seats in GSMC, it requires a NEET UG score and also requires candidates to attain a minimum of 50% in their 12th-grade examinations.
The counselling considers both the All India Quota (AIQ) and the State Quota: generally, 15% of seats are designated for candidates from across the country under AIQ, while the remaining 85% are reserved for candidates with domicile in Maharashtra.
Reservation policies for various categories including SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD are implemented as per the applicable government regulations. Importantly, for the MBBS program at GSMC, the closing NEET rank for the General Category was 1010 in 2024. For admission into postgraduate courses such as MD and MS, candidates need to sit for the NEET PG examination and must have completed an MBBS degree along with a year of internship.

GSMC offers MBBS at the undergraduate level for 5.5 Years, including one year of compulsory rotating medical internship. Admission to MBBS at the institute is based on your NEET UG scores. After a valid score in NEET UG, candidates need to register themselves on DMER, Maharashtra official website to participate in the counselling process. The college allocates 85% of the total seat intakes based on Maharashtra State Quota Seats, and the remaining 15% are filled based on ALL India Quota Seats.

Which is better to join for an MBBS, GMC Patiala, GMC Mumbai, Seth GS Medical College, KGMU, or GMCH Chandigarh?
Based on the opinions within the medical community, I will provide some information on these colleges-
- GSMC- It is a highly renowned college. High rankers in UG and PG entrance choose it for pursuing their medical studies. Clinical teaching is very good over here.
- Grant Medical College Mumbai- It is one of the top 10 medical colleges of India. But its fees have skyrocketed recently. The campus is not in a good shape too. However, this college is one of the only 5 colleges whose degrees are approved in Singapore. So if you plan to pursue your PG abroad, a degree from GMC Mumbai will open the doors of Singapore for you.
- KGMU- It is one of the best medical colleges in North India, and especially UP. It is well reputed, and the campus is really good. The infrastructure is top notch, better than most government colleges. The teachers are decent, and the students are hardworking. You’ll get a good clinical exposure over here. For an outsider though, adjusting to the UP culture might be a little difficult at first.
I don’t know much about GMC Patiala and GMCH Chandigarh, so I won’t comment on these two.
Make sure to choose a college with hardworking students. Good company will motivate you to study harder and excel in your field. Food and language barriers aren’t much of a problem in the long run.
