Ques. What is the duration and scope of the BPT programme at IPGMER?
Ans. The BPT is a 4.5-year full-time programme consisting of 4 years of theoretical and practical training followed by 6 months of clinical internship. The programme covers musculoskeletal physiotherapy, neurological rehabilitation, cardio-respiratory physiotherapy, sports physiotherapy, paediatric physiotherapy, and community health programmes.
Ques. What are the eligibility criteria for BPT at IPGMER?
Ans. Candidates must have completed 10+2 (12th pass) with Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). A minimum of 50 percent marks in the 12th examination is typically required. Candidates must also qualify in the WBJEEB entrance examination or meet institutional merit criteria.

Ans. Yes, IPGMER’s BPT programme is recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). Graduates must appear for the RCI examination and register with the RCI to practice as physiotherapists in India and internationally.
Ques. What are the career prospects after completing BPT from IPGMER?
Ans. BPT graduates can work as physiotherapists in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, physiotherapy clinics, sports medicine centres, diagnostic centres, and private practice. They can also pursue higher education (Master’s programmes) or work in overseas healthcare settings. Starting salary ranges from ₹2,50,000 to ₹4,00,000 per annum depending on employer and location.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation available for BPT students at IPGMER?
Ans. Hostel accommodation is available on a limited basis and is subject to eligibility criteria and availability. Hostel charges are payable separately, ranging from ₹6,000 to ₹8,000 per year. Students should contact the admissions office for hostel application procedures.
