Ans. PTU and GNDU both are well-reputed colleges that have unique strengths and weaknesses. While PTU is a bit flexible in terms of exam pattern, GNDU follows the rule of a year back. The choice of the college also depends on the course you will be studying. Usually, PTU fares better in most cases.  Ultimately, it all depends on the college or university campus you are taking admission. Most colleges in Punjab have a pathetic academic ambiance. So go for the main campus of any university else look for a decent college in your area. In all, GNDU offers better placement opportunities provided that you are on the main campus.Read more

Ques. How is PTU Jalandhar for a B.Tech?

Ans. One of my friends was admitted to PTU and does not recommend its B.tech course. The quality of education is below-average and you won't learn much from the university. The placement scenario is pathetic and more than 30% of the students remain unplaced. The highest salary package offered is 6 LPA and the top recruiters include Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HCL, etc. Students get placed in minor roles in software companies. The infrastructure however isn't that bad and the college has decent lab facilities and a well-stocked library. The hostel facilities are also decent and the food served is good.  Unless you are satisfied with a low package below INR 10 LPA, it's better to look for a better college.Read more

Ques. can I get admission in CGC Landran through PTU Counseling for CSE branch from outside Punjab of the general category? I got a 200000 rank in the JEE Mains but I got 68 percent in boards.

Ans. CGC Landran is a private engineering college located in Punjab, India. The admission process for the college is conducted through JEE Main and Punjab Technical University (PTU) counseling. As per the JEE Main rank mentioned by you, it is difficult to get admission to the CSE branch in CGC Landran. However, the final decision regarding admission will depend on various factors such as the number of available seats, the number of applicants, and the cutoff score. As per the admission rules, PTU colleges cannot admit students until the online admission is completed. Only the remaining are given admission directly. Usually, students don’t apply online. If you are adamant about PTU, go only to the PTU main campus or Guru Nanak Engg College Ludhiana. CGC should not be given much preference as it is all about inflated figures and misleading statistics. Read more

Ans. There are many reasons why some students prefer CSE at NSIT to CSE at DTU. I have listed some strong reasons below: NSIT has a smaller batch size which in turn means the level of competition faced by the students is comparatively low. You can get good job profiles way more easily than at an institute with a higher intake like DTU. NSIT awards you a degree from DU, one of the most globally recognized and reputed universities. This helps you pursue higher studies in foreign countries easily.  Quite a few NSIT students are able to secure high packages in top companies like Facebook while DTU because of its large batch size has only a few that get 1 cr+ packages. One of the major reasons why someone would prefer NSIT over DTU is that it’s quite difficult to get a hostel in DTU especially if you are a resident of Delhi. If you consider these reasons valid, go for NSIT instead of DTU.Read more

Ans. IIITD, DTU and NSIT (NSUT) reserve 85% seats for the students who passed their 12th or equivalent from Delhi. All the NITs also offer reservation to students from their own states. Here are the 2023 JEE Mains closing ranks for CSE/COE at various colleges (for SC category)- College/ University Quota Closing Rank (last round) NSIT (NSUT) All India 49910 DTU All India 37183 NITW OS 484 NIT Rourkela OS 549 IIIT Delhi OS 62163 These are the closing ranks assuming you are not from the Home State. There are separate ranks for female-reserved seats as well. Apart from COE, NSUT also offers a B.Tech CSE in AI, Data Science and Big Data Analytics. Thus, you will have to study hard and score well to secure a seat at these top colleges for your B.Tech CSE. Read more

Ques. Which is better, EE at DTU or ICE at NSIT?

Ans. There is no better branch between EE at DTU and ICE at NSIT. It's all about preferences and inclinations. To help you make an informed decision let's talk about both the branches individually EE at DTU EE at DTU is core electrical engineering wherein you are taught concepts related to power, grids, electrical machines, etc.  For placements, core companies like BHEL and companies in the energy field visit the campus.  ICE at NSIT This branch has Control Engineering concepts along with electrical, electronics, and computer engineering.ICE has very light coursework and it's easy to maintain a good CGPA.  You also get enough time for your passions and extracurriculars. IT giants like Facebook, Google, etc. Don't allow ICE students to sit for placements.  Core companies that recruit students of this branch include Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and others.  Non-tech companies like BCG, Bain, and JPMC allow all students to sit for placements. NSIT has a larger batch size and thus the competition here is less than DTU for placements but it still it cannot match the brand value of DTU. In all, both DTU and NSIT have similar opportunities and placements so with the right mindset you can do well at both colleges. Read more

Ans. All three colleges namely, IIIT Delhi, NSIT, and DTU are excellent options for CSE. However, you might want to consider the following points before making the final decision  Campus life: In terms of campus life, the DTU is the best option followed by NSUT and IIIT Delhi. DTU offers a very laid-back cap pledge life experience with a minimal workload and a lot of time to pursue your hobbies. There aren’t many restrictions on attendance also. Curriculum: IIIT Delhi is a clear winner in terms of curriculum as it has no extra subjects in the first year. Students are taught coding languages and related assignments from day one and thus prepare students better than their counterparts. Research : IIIT Delhi is a research-oriented institute and has better research facilities, labs, and resources. DTU and NSUT have a similar research culture.  Infrastructure : IIIT Delhi is a newly established college so has modern infrastructure, although the campus is small. DTU and NSUT have larger campuses and better sports facilities. Fees: IIIT Delhi charges extremely high fees around INR 4.62 Lakhs (1st Year Fees) which is almost double the fees charged by DTU INR 2.19 Lakhs (1st Year Fees) So choose wisely based on your priorities!Read more

Ques. I am too confused between CSE at DTU/NSIT and IIT Jodhpur. What should I do?

Ans. I can never stop emphasizing this, no matter how many options you have always go for the one that gives you the IIT tag.  I am not saying Engineering colleges like NSIT and DTU aren’t good but they are in the developing phase while IIT Jodhpur is in its developing phase. This means it will only get better. Despite being a new IIT, its average package this year was recorded at INR 21.30 LPA, which is a great feat for a new college.  Additionally, IITs receive more funding from the government to provide better research and project opportunities. Specifically speaking about CSE, this year the highest INR 56 LPA was bagged by BTech CSE. The placement percentage stood at 97% while the average package for CSE was recorded at INR 23 LPA.  DTU and NSIT may have higher placement statistics but they lack what IIT Jodhpur offers, the most coveted IIT tag! So choose wisely.Read more
