Ques. Is the UEM Kolkata or the ADAMAS good for ME, and which one of these universities has good placements?

Ans. From the options given above, none of them are good. UEM Kolkata does not have good management at all. You will not find any good labs here. As far as ADAMAS is concerned, there is not much information available about it but my friends have said that is not that good either. My suggestion to you would be to opt for computer science at either of these colleges. This is because pursuing core streams from either of these colleges will be of no help to you at all.  If you end up doing CSE, you can secure a job at a top MNC or IT firm. Due to the demand of CSE and IT graduates nowadays, there are more chances to get a job here, than in any core industry. Categories ME at UEM Kolkata ME at Adamas Course Fee 5.81 lakh 6.44 lakh Highest CTC 40 LPA 10 LPA Average CTC 4.2 LPA 6 LPA If you are looking for good labs at these colleges for core subjects, they will not be available to you. Ques. Haldia Institute of Technology or University of Engineering and Management (UEM-Kolkata) would be the best for CSE?

Ans. I have a few friends at the Haldia Institute of Technology and based on what I heard from them, I will suggest you to look for other options. Having a college campus in Kolkata will be advantageous for you. You can get IT in Techno India salt-lake main campus. If you don’t get Techno you can go for CSE in B.P. Poddar, RCC or St. Thomas, or any other college. Follow previous year trends of opening and closing ranks of the college and make a choice accordingly. Choosing the University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Kolkata can be risky because it is newly established. Even though it is under the banner of IEM, you can’t be certain about placements. Going by the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at the institute is 4 LPA.Read more

Ans. One of my cousins is studying CSE at UEM University so I can give you a scenario of UEM University. Here are a few of the things about UEM Kolkata. The faculties of UEM Kolkata are good and they also help students. You will have all the academic exposure here as lots of conferences keep happening at UEM. The academic design of UEM is also good. But semesters are not easy, you have to study hard. UEM seniors are good. Few of them have created video games for android and built non-framework cars. UEM also started a group where students can build their own cars. In the table below take a look at the placement scenario of both institutes. Category B.C. Roy Engineering College UEM Kolkata Recruiters Capgemini, TCS, Wipro, L&T, etc. TCS, Wipro, Videonetics, Deloitte, etc. Average CTC INR 3 LPA INR 4.2 LPA Highest CTC INR 5 LPA INR 40 LPA UEM Kolkata is a good college if you want to learn every aspect of engineering and gain knowledge. Ques. What is fee structure of CSE branch in UEM Kolkata?

Ans. The overall fee structure in UEM Kolkata keeps changing. But, there are no major modifications to it over the last few years.  For the 2016-20 batches, the fee per semester was Rs. 60,000. Therefore, the total fee would be Rs. 1.2 Lakhs annual fees. During admission, you will need to pay an additional admission fee of Rs. 12,000. So, the first-semester fee is Rs. 72,000 combined together, which the students need to pay before their admission to the institute. There is an examination fee of Rs. 1000, which needs to be paid before semester exams. For the first semester, the exam fee is Rs. 1400. UEM organizes several technical and professional workshops, and almost all of them are paid. The fee for such workshops varies from Rs. 500-1500, depending on the type and duration of the workshop. But, these are entirely optional. The management will not force you to participate.  Previously, the 2015-19 batches had a semester fee of Rs. 37,000, and so Rs. 74,000 annually. All other fees, i.e.-exam fees, workshop fees, etc, were the same for those batches too. Ans. IEM is ranked 3rd best for engineering in West Bengal and ranked at 79th position all over India. UEM is ranked 96th for engineering by Times 2020. BCA has a more software-based approach whereas B.Tech includes learning of both hardware and software. Admission: The admission to BTech at UEM and BCA at IEM is through IEMJEE. The prerequisite for the programs is 10+2 from a recognized board. The cut-offs are declared at the time of admissions. Particulars BCA in IEM B.Tech in UEM Intake 120 1400 Fee 1.57 Lakhs 5.86 Lakhs Duration 3 years 4 years Placement: UEM- It has a placement percentage of 123%; almost all the students get 2-3 job offers. The average package is nearly 4.2 Lakhs per annum. The highest package offered was 40 Lakhs per annum. Top recruiting companies of the college are TCS, Wipro, Videonetics, Codeclouds, NRI Fintech, Think analytics, Global Logic, etc. A BCA graduate gets an average salary of 2.5 Lakhs per annum. IEM- For IEM Kolkata, the top recruiters are Deloitte, TCS, CTS, Infosys, and Capgemini. According to 2019 placements it had a 100% placement rate. The highest CTC offered was 15.5 LPA. The average package for IEM is 4.2 LPA. Both UEM and IEM offer similar placement opportunities but as a course BTech offers more scope as compared to BCA. Ans. I will shed some light on the university exams situation at JNTUH. It's almost impossible to score good marks here because irrespective of what you write the correction staff simply gives you zero. They don't care what you have written and when you write the same answers in your supplementary exams, you end up getting passed. This is the reality here where the toppers fail in exams while the failures top.  If your aim is to get 90% here, I will suggest you have a change of mind. Stop focusing on mere percentages and rather focus on gathering as much knowledge and skills as you can. Eventually, recruiters don't consider your grades but your knowledge and performance in the interview. At JNTUH, you get marks only if you write the exact words from the textbook even if it means you don't understand a single word. I will mention a few simple tips that will help you score decent marks here: Always write the answer in points; each point comprising 2-3 lines. A long answer should have at least 10-15 such points. Underline the keywords in every point and highlight the main points. Make sure your answer sheet appears organized. Use margins, draw a line after each answer, highlight the formulae, etc  Presentation is very important so dont strike off the answers as you may end up losing more marks. Write the long answers carrying 10 marks in 4 pages, short answers carrying 3 marks in 15 lines, and the 2 marks answers in 6 to 7 lines. These tips will help you survive at JNTUH by getting decent marks but won't help you in increasing your knowledge which is very important once you leave college. So work on that as well! Read more

Ans. Yes, chemical engineering at JNTU is good. If you are interested in chemical engineering, then it's the best place to pursue it.  Infrastructure: The Chemical Engineering branch started at the institute only a few years ago. It does not even have a specific departmental block. It shares the block of the Metallurgical department. CE also doesn't have their own labs. Students go to other departments to do their lab work.  Placements: The first batch of Chemical Engineering graduated in 2018 and it had good core placements. Companies like Vedanta, ITC recruit Chemical Engineering students. In recent years the average CTC offered at the institute is 9 LPA.  I will advise you to only opt for Chemical Engineering if you are interested. If a student needs only the tag and brand of JNTU then choosing a chemical branch will not be a good idea. Read more

Ans. The life of a B.Tech student at JNTUH is amazing if you make the most of it. There are many perks of choosing JNTUH, especially over its affiliated colleges- The campus is spacious and beautiful. It has a separate block for all the different engineering departments and separate buildings for all the first-year B.Tech students. The campus has well-equipped libraries. There is a central library along with a college library which issues 4 and 3 cards respectively. Overall, you will get 7 cards which is enough for a semester.  TEQIP is open 24*7 and has a good quality internet facility. The labs are well-equipped. The auditorium is very beautiful and is one of the best college auditoriums. The sports facilities are pretty good. You will get all the freedom and no one will spoon-feed you. There are plenty of places to hang out outside the campus. The placements are good and packages lie between 3.3 LPA to 12 LPA. I would also like to shed some light on the weak points of JNTUH. The professors over here teach very well but the teaching assistants do not. You won’t have the freedom to conduct your own experiments in the lab and will have to follow instructions. There are no literary clubs, drama clubs, and anything of that kind over here. You will have a great time at JNTUH if you create a balance between studies and enjoyment. Read more

Ans. Here are some tips to get a good percentage in the B.Tech exams of JNTUH- First of all, make sure to score well in your internals because they matter a lot. Ask the faculty for guidance and get your queries solved. Make sure to establish a good reputation in front of your professors. Focus on your lab as well. For the external exams, start preparing at least a month prior to your exams. Theoretical answers are easy to write, so focus more on numerical problems. Doing so will boost your scores.  According to the new regulation, 40 marks are designated to CIE (continuous internal evaluation) while 60 are designated to SEE (Semester End Examination). You will get your B.Tech degree from JNTUH with at least a 75% if you follow these tips diligently and study with utmost sincerity. Read more

Ans. If you are aiming for 75% at the end of your B.Tech from JNTUH, you need to maintain an aggregate of 75% in every semester. This may become challenging because not every semester allows you to score 75% easily. In case for a semester you score less than 75%, work harder and get a really good percentage like 80% in another semester which has better prospects in order to cover up. One is never guaranteed an excellent score in the JNTUH exam. The checking might be tough or lenient for a particular exam, it is a matter of luck. Sometimes when you expect really good scores, you might end up scoring less, and vice versa. Your lab exams are equally important. A good score in them will definitely work to increase your percentage in the finals.  Thus, with proper planning and hardwork, you can score 75% overall in your B.Tech from JNTUH.Read more
