  •  Difficulty level of the course was bit high as the curriculum was intense with so much detailed concepts that took time to learn and understand. It was more of practical assignments rather than theoretical exams etc.
  • Positive about the courses is that I got to learn a lot and explore a lot and negative is that it took time to understand and get the assignments done but got better in time
  • Depends on the course and the average is around 25 students per course
  • There were 50% of Indian students in almost all the courses

Fees

  • Fees are charged per semester and it was around $8000-$9000 CAD in 2020 & 2021.
  • I chose to stay on my own by renting an apartment and sharing it with 2 others.
  • The rent for an individual was $350 CAD and $80 for the utilities and WiFi and the food and other expenses were around $400.
  • It’s good to do part time and take care of our expenses and I did Teaching Assistant part time which helped me to manage my expenses and I got this job in my university itself

There are many Facebook groups and WhatsApp groups where you can find the rental unit but it is usually suggested to come before and search by yourself to avoid scams which are very common here and do not pay any amount in advance unless and until you see the unit.

  • The courses are competitive and demanding considering the self learning involved in the delivery. It was mostly 80% practical that involved projects and research and 20% theoretical.
  • Positive is, you can get a TA position in Computer related courses as well as electronics and electrical courses. Negatives being the selection of coop is very random. It literally has no basis of selection whereas in CS, mostly everyone gets a Coop.

Fees

  • The tuition fees are based on the number of credits. In my course, it was mandatory to complete 30 credits. Every course is 3 credits and costs around 4000 dollars so 30 credits are 40000 CAD.
  • I did not opt for university accommodation but I stayed in a shared space nearby which was 500 CAD a month. A private space or room may go upto 900-1000 CAD a month
  • Credit based which you pay before each semester starts upto 1000 dollars a month

MEng is a theoretical program with no industrial or real-life exposure. However, with MASc, you might get practical knowledge a lot.

Fees

The fees are around $13,000 a semester. For MEng, you need to make a minimum of 3 semesters.

The course is really good and practical. It might be difficult for some people to adapt at first. But once one gets going it's a smooth process. There are a variety of subjects from which a person can choose whatever he wants to study as per his liking. So overall a great pool of knowledge.

The University of Ottawa is a really good university for Civil Engineering. My major is in structural engineering and the university is very well known for that. The course structure is really flexible. Also, there are a lot of choices in courses for structural engineering.

I am not a huge fan of having to take courses from all aspects of business, such as management, Human Resources, organizational behaviour, marketing, social context of business, etc. I am a numbers person so taking courses with little to no numbers or formulas significantly lowers my averages and CGPA

Fees

The fee structure is good, students receiving OSAP get an extended deadline to pay. There are a few fees you can opt out of. There are numerous internal scholarships available that students can apply for as well as numerous scholarships awarded to students without the need to apply for them. The university also offers a merit scholarship
