M.Arch from Dalhousie University Overview

Dalhousie University offers a two-year, full-time Master of Architecture (MArch) program that is thesis-based and begins in the summer term. The program includes seven core courses in architectural design, humanities, technology, and professional practice, along with four electives and a design thesis. It features an eight-month co-op work term, allowing students to gain practical experience worldwide. The university provides excellent facilities, including 24-hour studio spaces, computer labs, a woodworking shop, and exhibition halls. Dalhousie’s MArch program is internationally recognized, combining strong artistic and technical training with social and cultural awareness, and graduates can expect an average salary of around $55,000 USD. Academic Eligibility:

  • Students should have completed a 4-year bachelor's degree such as BArch, BEng-Arch from a recognized university.
  • A GPA of at least 3.0/4.33 (B grade) is required to be eligible for the program.
  • A design portfolio is needed for application to the MArch program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

  • Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Or, completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Or, completed a 3-year undergraduate degree from an accredited institution.

  • Transcripts: Students have to submit transcripts from all universities/colleges attended, World Education Services Assessments, and English Language Proficiency test scores.
  • Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
  • Confirmation of Employment Form:  Students must be emailed as an attachment by applicant or referee. 
  • Proof of name change: Required only if name discrepancies exist between transcripts/assessments/test scores and other application documents.  Examples of proof: Marriage/divorce certificates, 2 copies of government-issued ID that include a previous and current name and date of birth.
