Confederation College Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Confederation College admission requirements for Indian students are set at the Ontario college minimum, with programme-specific overlays for Health, Aviation, and Engineering streams.

Postgraduate Certificate applicants:

  • Recognised bachelor’s degree with 60% or CGPA 6.0/10 in a related field (recommended)
  • English test minimums: IELTS 6.5 overall (no band under 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88, PTE Academic 60, or Duolingo English Test 120
  • Credential evaluation through WES or IQAS for degree verification
  • Statement of purpose plus two letters of recommendation

Diploma and Certificate applicants:

  • Class 12 with 55% to 65% including any programme prerequisites in Math, Physics, or Chemistry
  • English minimums: IELTS 6.0 (no band under 5.5), TOEFL iBT 80, PTE Academic 55, or Duolingo 110

Key insight: Practical Nursing requires an IELTS Speaking sub-score of 6.5 even when the overall band is met, and Aviation Flight Management adds a Class 1 Medical Certificate from Transport Canada before an offer is confirmed.

Confederation College Acceptance Rate 2027

Confederation College acceptance rate is approximately 80% (estimated) across the full program catalogue, reflecting an access-oriented public college model rather than a selective research university filter. The figure is a third-party estimate; the college does not publish a single institutional acceptance rate.

The 80% figure applies to standard Diplomas and non-capped Graduate Certificates. Capped health, aviation, and skilled-trade cohorts admit a much smaller share of applicants because the seat pool is fixed by the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities.

Reality check: An Indian applicant with a completed Class 12 or bachelor’s above 55% and the right English score is highly likely to receive an offer for open-admission programs. Confederation College acceptance rate for Aviation Flight Management is far tighter and turns on the pilot medical and interview.

Confederation College Campus, Facilities and Student Life

Confederation College’s main campus spans 60 hectares on Lakehead Drive in Thunder Bay, with regional campuses in Dryden, Fort Frances, Geraldton, Kenora, Marathon, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, and Wawa.

  • Location: Thunder Bay Airport is 5 km from campus; Thunder Bay Transit route 3 stops on Lakehead Drive
  • Housing: Spruce and Cedar Residence guarantees a room to all first-year international students who apply by 1 June for Fall entry
  • Signature facility: The Aviation Centre of Excellence at Thunder Bay Airport operates a fleet of Cessna 152 and 172 trainers for the flight programme
  • Indian community: The International Student Association hosts Diwali, Holi, and Independence Day events each academic year
  • Support: Free airport pickup, arrival orientation, and a dedicated International Education Centre for visa, health-insurance, and PGWP guidance

What Indian students say: Thunder Bay is quieter than Toronto, which suits students focused on grades and part-time savings. The campus feels close-knit and instructors know students by name; winters are cold but the residence and academic buildings connect through indoor corridors.

Confederation College Rankings 2027

Confederation College is a public applied-arts college, not a research university, so it does not appear in QS, THE, US News, or ARWU world tables. Collegedunia Study Abroad is the only cross-country ranking that covers the college.

Key insight: World university rankings do not affect Canadian study-permit eligibility. Confederation College is a Designated Learning Institution and its PG diplomas are on the 2025 PGWP field-of-study list, which is the credential Indian graduates actually need.

Confederation College Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

Confederation College placements sit at the top of the Ontario public-college table, reinforced by co-op components inside most PG certificates and Advanced Diplomas.

  • Graduate Employment Rate: 91.1% within six months of graduation
  • Average Graduate Salary: CAD 55,000 (INR 37.8 lakh) as per KPI reporting
  • Ontario ranking: #2 for graduate employment among Ontario colleges
  • Top hiring sectors: Healthcare, aviation, mining, forestry, and information technology
  • Career support: The Career Services team offers resume clinics, employer meet-ups, and post-graduation Post-Graduation Work Permit application help

Insider note: Indian graduates from the Health Informatics and Business Administration streams commonly land roles at regional hospitals, credit unions, and mining suppliers in northwestern Ontario within four months. Toronto-based placements typically require a separate move after the first year of work.

Confederation College vs Peer Colleges

Indian applicants weighing Confederation College usually shortlist three Ontario public colleges of similar size and international acceptance policy. The comparison below uses PG certificate fees for like-for-like reading.

CollegeCollegedunia Study Abroad 2026Avg Annual PG FeeDifferentiator
Confederation College#113 in CanadaCAD 16,500 (INR 11.3 lakh)Lowest COL city in Ontario and Aviation programme
Cambrian CollegeNACAD 17,500 (INR 12 lakh)Sudbury base; strong Mining Engineering Tech
Sault CollegeNACAD 16,900 (INR 11.6 lakh)Sault Ste. Marie campus; Nursing focus
Northern CollegeNACAD 16,500 (INR 11.3 lakh)Timmins and satellite Toronto campus

Confederation College stands out on two data points that matter to Indian applicants: a 91.1% graduate employment rate and Thunder Bay living costs that are 30% below Toronto. The Aviation stream has no equal at the peer colleges above.

Who Confederation College is right for: an Indian student aiming at a PGWP-eligible diploma with total two-year outlay under INR 45 lakh who is comfortable relocating to northwestern Ontario, and who values a 91.1% employment record over a big-city brand. The Health Informatics and International Business Management certificates deliver an INR 37 lakh median salary against roughly INR 25 lakh tuition, a strong ROI anchor backed by the study in Canada guide visa pathway.

Who it is not right for: applicants set on Toronto or Vancouver campus life, or those wanting a four-year bachelor’s; a better fit is a direct-entry undergraduate at Fanshawe College’s degree pathway or a University of Windsor programme.

As per checking this is a good college with a good reputation and checking the courses m getting what I will need and moreover this is govt funded college. So these all make me choose that college. Checking social sites offers various other recreational activities. They provide green gym facility also.

Fees

There are very less scholarship for international students but can get a scholarship for tremendous students. The fees are the same as set by the fees associated. Will try to get the scholarship if get good marks. As there are fewer options for international students. The fees are 16000$ per year for 1 year.

Overview

It was cheaper than most other flight programs and has a very good reputation. Lots of good job opportunities after graduation. It is also shorter than most flight school, it is only 20 months. It also has good instructors.

Fees

Usually paid for each semester a set amount and then flight tests are an additional charge. The summer semester is cheaper because there are fewer classes.

I opted for this particular college because I wanted to continue to live at home with my parents and not have to worry about moving out of town/moving all of my stuff. Also, it was more convenient to stay in my home town.

Fees

Typical $4000 a year for canadian students, more expensive for international students. Ability to opt out of a health plan which is good if you already have additional health insurance.
