St. Lawrence College admissions run three intakes a year — Fall (September), Winter (January), and Spring (May) — with Class XII (50 to 55%) qualifying Indian applicants for diplomas and a Bachelor’s degree qualifying them for graduate certificates.

  • Fall 2027 primary intake: OCAS opens 26 September 2026; Equal Consideration Deadline 1 February 2027.

  • Eligibility floors: Class XII 50 to 55% (diplomas) or Bachelor’s degree (graduate certificates); IELTS 6.0 (diplomas) or 6.5 (graduate certificates).
  • Acceptance rate estimated at around 58%, based on public enrolment patterns (SLC does not publish an official figure).

Indian students most commonly enrol in graduate certificates like Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, and International Business Management, plus the Bachelor of Business Administration at Kingston. For campus life, PGWP alignment, and placement patterns, read the wider St. Lawrence College profile.

St. Lawrence College Application Deadlines

All international applications are routed through OCAS (Ontario College Application Service) — the central application platform used by every publicly funded Ontario college, with SLC’s college code SLAW. Applications for Winter 2027 and Spring 2027 are open now on a rolling basis; the Fall 2027 cycle opens on 26 September 2026 per the St. Lawrence College how-to-apply page.

SLC’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (September) — most programs open here, with Winter and Spring accepting a smaller set of diplomas and graduate certificates.

St. Lawrence College Eligibility for Indian Students

Entry rules at SLC vary by credential level. Every applicant must be at least 18 at the start of their program and submit a verified English proficiency test unless a waiver applies. The academic floors below draw from the SLC international admissions pages.

  • Diplomas and certificates: Class XII (Higher Secondary Certificate) with 50 to 55% overall, including any prerequisite subjects listed by the program (Mathematics for tech and engineering diplomas, Biology and Chemistry for nursing pathways).
  • Advanced diplomas (3-year): Class XII with 55%+ including program-specific subjects.
  • Bachelor’s degrees (Business Administration, Nursing, Behavioural Psychology, Commerce): Class XII with 65%+ overall and English at 70% (ISC/CBSE) or equivalent.
  • Graduate certificates: a completed Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; a few programs (Cybersecurity, Health Care Administration) prefer a related field.

SLC accepts several English tests, but Indian applicants face specific test restrictions.

Not accepted from Indian applicants: Duolingo English Test, EIKEN, Michigan English Test, and Cambridge English Proficiency — SLC has an explicit country-based restriction for India on these four tests. CELPIP is not accepted from anyone.

St. Lawrence College IELTS Waivers for Indian Applicants

SLC does publish English waiver routes, though they are narrow for most Indian school-leavers. A waiver applies if:

  • You completed at least two years full-time, in-person post-secondary study where English was the sole language of instruction in Canada, the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or another listed English-medium country.
  • You hold Canadian ENG4C or ENG4U (or equivalent) at the required grade — 70% ENG4U for bachelor’s programs.
  • You have completed an SLC English Language Partner Program pathway at Oxford International, ILSC Canada, or one of 13 other listed partners at the specified level.

An MOI (medium of instruction) letter from an Indian university on its own does not waive SLC’s English test — the college requires the two-year full-time in-person condition to be met in a listed English-medium country.

St. Lawrence College Graduate Certificate Programs

Graduate certificates are one-year post-baccalaureate credentials aimed at Indian graduates who want a Canadian-accredited industry qualification and a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) pathway. Base tuition for a graduate certificate starts at CAD 19,055 (around ₹13.10 Lakhs) per year at Kingston; for a full course-wise fees breakdown, see the SLC fees page.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official St. Lawrence College page for your chosen program before applying.

St. Lawrence College Diploma and Bachelor Programs

St. Lawrence College Application Process

SLC’s international application runs entirely through the OCAS International Application Service (IAS) — you cannot apply directly to the college. The 8-step process below is drawn from the SLC international how-to-apply page.

  1. Create your IAS account on OCAS. The Fall 2027 cycle opens 26 September 2026; Winter and Spring 2027 are open now at international.ocas.ca.
  2. Select up to five programs at SLC (college code SLAW) and upload your documents — passport, transcripts, degree, English test score report.
  3. Pay the application fee of CAD 100 (around ₹6,872) via Flywire on the IAS portal.
  4. Submit your application. IAS forwards it to the SLC International Admissions team.
  5. Receive your Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and pay the CAD 2,350 tuition deposit within the timeline stated in your offer.
  6. Download the final LOA once your deposit is confirmed.
  7. Apply for a Canadian Study Permit through IRCC using your LOA and provincial attestation letter.
  8. Upload your study permit approval and travel details to the IAS portal.

Before you apply: Prepare your documents at least 6 to 8 weeks before submitting. Passport must be valid for the full duration of study; transcripts must be certified translations if not issued in English.

St. Lawrence College Admission Decisions Timeline

Once IAS forwards your application, SLC’s international admissions team typically responds within 4 to 6 weeks for standard graduate certificates and diplomas, and 6 to 10 weeks for competitive Bachelor’s and health-science programs. Faster decisions are common for applications received well before the 1 February ECD.

  • Conditional offer: Issued when one or more requirements (English test score, final transcripts) are still pending. You must clear conditions before the tuition deposit is due.
  • Full offer: Issued when every academic and language requirement is met. The offer states the deposit deadline (typically 30 to 45 days).
  • Deferral: You may request a one-intake deferral before you pay the deposit; SLC does not permit deferrals after the LOA has been used for a study permit.
  • Reject: If a program is full, SLC often suggests a comparable open program or a later intake.

Accept the offer by paying the CAD 2,350 tuition deposit through the payment link in your offer. The paid deposit converts your conditional LOA into a final LOA suitable for study permit filing.

St. Lawrence College Documents Required

SLC’s international application is document-heavy because IAS validates paperwork centrally before it reaches admissions. Prepare the following in advance and keep certified translations ready if any document is not in English.

  • Valid passport — bio page scan; passport must remain valid for your full study duration.
  • Class X and Class XII marksheets and certificates — original or certified copies.
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate and semester-wise transcripts — for graduate certificate applicants; must be certified by the issuing university.
  • English proficiency score report — IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, or CAEL (Duolingo not accepted from India).
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) — 500 to 800 words outlining career goals and program fit.
  • Updated CV or resume — required for graduate certificate applicants with work experience.
  • Letters of Recommendation — one or two academic references for competitive Bachelor’s programs.
  • Portfolio — for Graphic Design, UX Design, and Music Theatre applicants.
  • Proof of funds — bank statement or Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) for the study permit stage, not the SLC application itself.

Every uploaded document must be a legible colour scan. Do not send originals to SLC or IAS.

St. Lawrence College Acceptance Rate for Indian Applicants

SLC’s acceptance rate is estimated at around 58%, based on third-party enrolment data — the college does not publish an official institutional figure. This puts SLC in the moderately selective band for Ontario colleges: most well-prepared Indian applicants who clear the academic and English minimums receive offers.

What Makes an Application Competitive at St. Lawrence College

Program-level admission rates vary sharply. Business Analytics, Supply Chain, and general Business diplomas absorb large Indian cohorts each Fall and remain open until near start dates. Practical Nursing, Paramedic, and Behavioural Psychology are competitive — expect single-digit acceptance for these against the ECD applicant pool. Strong writing in your SOP and a clean English score above the minimum (IELTS 7.0+) improve odds for competitive programs.

St. Lawrence College Program Selectivity Snapshot

Compare SLC’s admission pattern against peer Ontario colleges via the ranking band. Kingston campus is the largest by intake volume and generally has the widest program availability; Brockville and Cornwall run a subset of programs.

Insider note: An Indian applicant with Class XII at 65%+ or a Bachelor’s at First Division, paired with IELTS 6.5+, is very likely to receive an SLC offer for non-competitive programs within four to six weeks.

Canada Study Permit for St. Lawrence College Applicants

Once you hold SLC’s final Letter of Acceptance and a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from Ontario, apply for a Canadian Study Permit through IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). As of 2026 rules, you need proof of funds covering tuition plus CAD 20,635 living costs (around ₹14.18 Lakhs) per year — typically shown through a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) with a Canadian bank plus a first-year tuition payment receipt.

Application steps: create an IRCC account, upload your LOA, PAL, GIC receipt, passport bio page, IELTS score, SOP for the visa officer, and Class XII/Bachelor’s transcripts. Pay the CAD 150 permit fee plus CAD 85 biometrics. Complete biometrics at a VFS Canada centre in India (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad). Processing currently averages 4 to 8 weeks for Indian applicants under the Student Direct Stream (SDS), though SDS was discontinued in November 2024 and all Indian students now use the standard study permit stream.

2026 update: After arrival, register with SLC International Services within your first two weeks on campus and confirm your Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) alignment for your program — SLC publishes a live list of PGWP-eligible programs updated for the latest IRCC CIP-code reforms.

Tips and Checklist for St. Lawrence College Admissions

The tips and timeline below are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at St. Lawrence College across the last three intake cycles.

  • Apply 6 months before your intake starts — SLC advises at least 4 months, but Indian document processing and study permit timelines usually add two more.
  • Sit IELTS before you create your OCAS account — the score is a hard prerequisite for a decision, and re-tests take four to six weeks. Aim above the minimum for competitive programs.
  • Rank Kingston as your first-choice campus if flexibility matters — it runs the widest program list and all three intakes.
  • Use OCAS’s five-program allowance — pair one competitive program with two open graduate certificates so a single application yields multiple offers.
  • Pay the tuition deposit within 30 days of the LOA — Fall 2027 seats in Business Analytics and Supply Chain fill fast after ECD.
  • Book biometrics the same week you submit the study permit application; VFS slots in metro cities can push processing by two weeks.
  • Apply to SLC merit scholarships by 1 December — award tiers of CAD 500, 2,000, and 4,000 are decided on a first-come basis. See wider funding for Indian students in Canada for external routes.
  • Confirm PGWP alignment for your specific program before you deposit — a small number of niche diplomas remain PGWP-ineligible under 2026 CIP rules.

St. Lawrence College remains one of the more accessible entry points into Ontario for Indian students planning to combine an industry-facing credential with a PGWP pathway. Prepare early, meet the English floor with a margin, and use OCAS’s multi-program slots to hedge intake risk.

St. Lawrence College Admissions: Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. When can I apply for St. Lawrence College’s Fall 2027 intake?

Ans. The OCAS International Application Service opens the Fall 2027 cycle on 26 September 2026. Apply by the Equal Consideration Deadline of 1 February 2027 for competitive programs; open programs remain accessible on a rolling basis until seats fill.

Ques. What is the minimum IELTS score for graduate certificates at SLC?

Ans. IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no single band below 6.0. TOEFL iBT 83, PTE 60, and CAEL 60 are also accepted. Duolingo scores are not accepted from Indian applicants.

Ques. Can Indian students use Duolingo English Test for St. Lawrence College?

Ans. No. SLC has an explicit country-based restriction that blocks Duolingo, EIKEN, Michigan English Test, and Cambridge English Proficiency from Indian applicants. Use IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or CAEL instead.

Ques. How much is the SLC application fee for Indian students?

Ans. CAD 100 (around ₹6,872), paid through Flywire on the OCAS International Application Service portal. The fee is non-refundable and covers up to five program choices in a single application.

Ques. Does St. Lawrence College accept 15 years of education for graduate certificates?

Ans. Yes. A three-year Indian Bachelor’s degree (15 years of education total) meets the eligibility floor for most SLC graduate certificates, provided the degree is from a UGC-recognised university and your transcripts show a passing final CGPA.

Ques. What is St. Lawrence College’s acceptance rate for Indian applicants?

Ans. Estimated at around 58% overall, based on third-party enrolment data — SLC does not publish an official figure. Non-competitive graduate certificates and business diplomas admit most qualifying applicants; nursing and paramedic programs are far more selective.

Ques. How long does an SLC admission decision take?

Ans. Typically 4 to 6 weeks for standard diplomas and graduate certificates once your OCAS application is complete. Competitive Bachelor’s and nursing programs can take 6 to 10 weeks, especially around the 1 February Equal Consideration Date.

Ques. Can I get an IELTS waiver at St. Lawrence College?

Ans. Only if you completed at least two years of full-time in-person post-secondary study in English in a listed English-medium country (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland). An MOI letter from an Indian university does not qualify on its own.

Ques. Which SLC campus is best for Indian students — Kingston, Brockville, or Cornwall?

Ans. Kingston runs the widest program list, all three intakes, and has the largest Indian student community. Brockville and Cornwall carry a narrower program set — pick them only if your program is offered there and you prefer a smaller campus.

Ques. Do SLC graduate certificates qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit?

Ans. Most do, but under IRCC’s 2026 CIP-code rules, PGWP eligibility depends on the specific program. Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, and Health Care Administration remain PGWP-aligned; confirm your chosen program on SLC’s PGWP-Aligned Programs page before you deposit.

Ques. What documents do I need to submit for the OCAS application?

Ans. Passport bio page, Class X and XII marksheets and certificates, Bachelor’s transcripts and degree (for graduate certificates), an English test score report, SOP of 500 to 800 words, and a CV if you have work experience. Portfolios apply to design and performing-arts programs.

Ques. Is the OCAS International Application Service the only way to apply to St. Lawrence College?

Ans. Yes for international applicants. SLC does not accept direct applications from outside Canada — every application must route through the OCAS IAS portal at international.ocas.ca using SLC’s college code SLAW.

How many gap years are acceptable after 12th?
S

St. Lawrence College does not have a specific limit on the number of years of study gap that they accept for admission. If you have taken a significant gap in your education, be sure to provide a complete and honest academic history, including any gap years or periods of interruption. You may also be asked to provide a personal statement explaining why you chose to take a gap year and what you learned from the experience.
