- Some of my relatives had graduated from this University and had recommended the same. The reviews were satisfactory and the prospects it offered aligned with my future goals.
- The continuous organisation of events helps in making friends and feeling less lonely. Its location is well connected to the bus routes which is a big advantage for students relying on public transport for daily commute.
Dislikes
- Although it's not just this university but the country's culture, foreign universities charge for things that normally an Indian university would give for free. For example, my pre-service teacher badge cost me a good $20 to order, which should have been ideally provided by the department.
Accommodation
The accommodation costs in Perth are on the rise. University accommodation tends to be on the higher end. Right now, I pay $472 for two weeks for a flat that I share with 8 other girls where gas and electricity are included. However, aircon is not provided if you are in the older buildings. Accommodations outside prove to be cheaper (with liberty to purchase an aircon). University lodging has its own advantages of security, happening life (events etc) and proximity to the university).
I have grown as a person at this University. Not just in terms of academics, which made me realise how tough and complex a teacher's job is, but also as a person.
Likes
- It is because this institute has a lab related to my research.
- The campus is beautiful with a lot of infrastructure like library and sitting space for studying. The campus is also vast in terms of area. There are a lot of sports facilities like indoor stadium, gym, football, soccer, etc.
Dislikes
- The campus looks beautiful but it is not active. After 5PM, no eateries are open inside the campus. All the clubs like dance, music, machine learning, etc. are just for namesake. The location of campus is also far from the city.
Accommodation
There accommodation will be limited. It is expensive as compared to outside stay. This is handled by a 3rd party called Unilodge.
Overall the experience was good. There are many pros and cons. Although the routine life was boring, the infrastructure was damn good.
Likes
- The location was a major factor as Perth has a stable climate and good economy. The cost of studies is relatively lower than other countries which was also a plus point.
Dislikes
- While most things are beyond amazing at Curtin, as an international student I feel the fee is expensive to pay but that’s just how we see any comparison. Most other universities have a higher fee but even with scholarships, it could be tough for a middle class Indian.
Accommodation
There are nice accommodations available with flexible options. Sone provide food as well. Others are budget friendly so I would say there is something for everyone’s interests.
It has been an amazing journey so far. There is ample scope and opportunities and Perth being a moderately populated city makes it easy to find places and people that are willing to help.
Accommodation
I have opted for in campus accommodation. The university has a separate web page for each process. Agricola helped me get a very comfortable and affordable and the nearest accommodation to my study place. I got a special offer of up to 50% discount as well
My admission process was thoroughly through my own research as Curtin University stands among 1% of top universities and best for mining engineering as Australia is a hub of mining. I got major help from the consultancy (SIEC)
Accommodation
On-Campus accommodation - very good facilities = ~ 200AUD per week Off-campus accommodation _ relatively economic option = 140 - 180 AUD per week
The research work at Curtin horticulture research laboratory is very popular globally.

I had chosen Curtin because it has a greater range of courses and had family support in Perth.
Accommodation
I live at home with my parents and sister and take the bus and train to uni every day which is a one hour journey but it?s okay because I like to study on the train. Living at home makes things a lot easier
Liked it. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and all the people were so nice when I went for the open day. I felt like the course was also just my calling - it had so many components I loved and I just had my heart set.
It had a high ranking than the other college that offered my course. The campus was larger and more catered to what I wanted as a student and it was also located closer to cheaper rental accommodation off-campus.
I went to college because of instant entryway into law. Other universities you had to do an undergrad to get in, but for this one, you didn't. It also had great reviews and a great city campus for the law students.
