What Students Say
Likes
- It is because this institute has a lab related to my research.
- The campus is beautiful with a lot of infrastructure like library and sitting space for studying. The campus is also vast in terms of area. There are a lot of sports facilities like indoor stadium, gym, football, soccer, etc.
Dislikes
- The campus looks beautiful but it is not active. After 5PM, no eateries are open inside the campus. All the clubs like dance, music, machine learning, etc. are just for namesake. The location of campus is also far from the city.
Overall the experience was good. There are many pros and cons. Although the routine life was boring, the infrastructure was damn good.
Course Curriculum
I didn't take any course. I also didn't get any industrial exposure as I was a joint PhD student.
Faculty
In my knowledge, faculty to student ratio is 1 is to 15.
Campus Life
Campus life is little boring. After 5pm, there will not be any eateries inside the campus. Hardly we can see a human.
Placement
As I am a PhD student, I don't know much about placements. The research opportunities are high. There are a large amount of PhD students and some postdoc students also.
Accommodation
There accommodation will be limited. It is expensive as compared to outside stay. This is handled by a 3rd party called Unilodge.
Exams
I was a joint PhD student. So the qualification was to have a current registration in PhD at IIT Madras or any other institution that have an MoM with Curtin University for Joint Doctoral Program. In SOP, we have to add the motivation of joining the program. Yes. I have done a presentation on my research with a professor at Curtin University.
Fees
I didn't pay any tuition fees.
Scholarship
Yes. I got Collaborative PhD scholarship which is 29000 AUD per year. This is a scholarship that is funded to PhD students at Curtin University.
