Curtin University admissions follow a direct online process through the curtin.t1cloud.com portal, with no application fee for international students, an institutional English floor of IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0), and admission based on Class XII results for undergraduate programs or a recognised Bachelor’s degree for postgraduate programs.

  • Semester 1 2027 (Curtin’s primary intake, February start) applications close on Thursday, 28 January 2027.
  • Base international tuition starts near AUD 28,400 (around INR 18.78 Lakhs) per year for postgraduate programs. There is no application fee for international applicants.
  • UG: Class XII completion meeting Curtin equivalency. PG: a recognised Bachelor’s degree. English: IELTS 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0 (or PTE 58, TOEFL iBT 4.5) for most programs.
  • Acceptance rate is not officially published. Third-party estimates place it near 50%, based on competitive-intake program patterns.

Popular programs for Indian applicants include the Master of Business Administration, Master of Engineering (Civil), and Bachelor of Commerce. Indian students consistently rate Curtin for its Perth location, which is classified as a designated regional area and earns graduates +5 points on Australia’s Skilled Migration test after two years of study. For institutional context including rankings and campus, see the Curtin University overview.

Admission status: Open. Curtin’s primary intake, Semester 1 2027 (February start), is accepting applications until Thursday, 28 January 2027. The Semester 2 2026 (July start) cycle closes on Sunday, 5 July 2026, leaving under two weeks for any remaining applicants targeting that intake. There is no application fee for international students.

Curtin University Application Deadlines for Indian Students

Curtin runs two main intakes each year: Semester 1 (February) and Semester 2 (July). Most programs and the bulk of international scholarship cycles open in Semester 1, making it the primary intake for Indian applicants. Indian students should submit applications at least 10 weeks before the course start date to allow for offer issue, fee payment, and visa processing.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use AUD 1 = INR 66.12 (June 2026). Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

The dates below are taken from the official Curtin application deadlines page. Most courses follow the standard window, but competitive programs (Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Medical Radiation Science, Psychology Honours) close earlier.

Curtin’s primary intake for Indian students is Semester 1 (February) – most programs open here.

Intake Level Standard Deadline Portal
Semester 2 2026 (July start) UG and PG Sunday, 5 July 2026 (Closing Soon) Curtin online portal
Semester 1 2027 (February start) — Primary intake UG and PG Thursday, 28 January 2027 Curtin online portal
Bachelor of Science (Medical Radiation Science) — Sem 1 2027 UG Tuesday, 1 December 2026 Curtin online portal
Bachelor of Psychology (Honours Year) — Sem 1 2027 UG Monday, 7 December 2026 Curtin online portal
Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) — Sem 1 2027 UG Wednesday, 20 January 2027 Curtin online portal

Once standard places fill for a given course, Curtin notes that competitive programs may close earlier than the standard deadline. The university does not publish a rolling window outside fixed cycles, so applicants should treat the standard date as the final cut-off, not the suggested timing.

Planning note: Book your IELTS at least 8 weeks before the Curtin deadline. Score release takes 13 days, and you need time to retake if your bands fall below 6.0.

Curtin University Eligibility for Indian Students

Curtin sets a single institutional English minimum and per-program academic floors. The eligibility framework below applies to all schools unless a specific program (Health, Education, Medicine) publishes a higher bar on its own course page.

Curtin University Academic Requirements for Indian Students

Indian academic equivalence works as follows for direct entry:

  • Undergraduate general entry: Class XII (CBSE, ICSE, or State Board) with around 60% in relevant subjects, rising to 60-65% for Engineering, Health Sciences, and competitive programs.
  • Postgraduate general entry: a 3-year or 4-year recognised Indian Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline.
  • Pathway option: applicants short of direct entry can enrol in a Curtin College diploma or foundation program and articulate into Year 2 of a Curtin Bachelor’s degree.

Curtin University MBA Admissions for Indian Students

The Curtin MBA runs on a trimester calendar (students take three semesters of 10 weeks each per year instead of the standard two semesters), giving three entry points per year. Indian applicants compete with a working-professional pool, and the program treats work experience as a hard floor rather than a preference.

Trimester Intake Month Application Closes
Trimester 2 2026 May 2026 April 2026 (Closed)
Trimester 3 2026 August 2026 Mid-July 2026
Trimester 1 2027 January 2027 Mid-December 2026

Curtin University MBA Entry Requirements

  • Full-time MBA: Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university plus at least 3 years of relevant full-time work experience. 2 years of experience may be considered on a case-by-case.
  • No-degree pathway: applicants without a Bachelor’s may enter through a relevant Curtin Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma with a 65% average and proven work history.
  • MBA (Advanced): same entry floor as MBA, with an extra research stream over 2 years.
  • English: IELTS 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0). Personal statement may serve as a secondary assessment of communication skill.
  • GMAT/GRE: not required for Curtin MBA. Application weight sits on the resume, interview, and academic record.

Curtin University Application Process for Indian Students

International applicants apply directly to Curtin (not via TISC, which is for Western Australian school leavers). The end-to-end process below assumes you have already chosen your course and met the academic and English floors.

  1. Create an account on the Curtin online application portal and select your course code and intake.
  2. Upload supporting documents including Class XII or Bachelor’s certified transcripts, passport bio page, English test score (or MOI letter), and program-specific forms.
  3. Confirm the application — no application fee is charged to international students applying through the Curtin online portal.
  4. Wait for the assessment outcome. Standard PG and UG offers issue in 4 to 6 weeks. Competitive programs (Medicine, MBA, Psychology) may take 6 to 10 weeks.
  5. Accept your offer by paying the first-semester tuition deposit shown on your Letter of Offer.
  6. Receive your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE), which you need to lodge the Subclass 500 student visa.

Curtin recommends Indian applicants submit at least 10 weeks before the course start date. This buffer covers offer issue, fee transfer, eCoE generation, and visa decision time.

Note: Offer letters from Curtin are typically valid for 3 months from issue. If you cannot accept and pay within that window, request a deferral in writing rather than letting the offer lapse.

Curtin University Documents Required for Indian Students

The document checklist below covers a direct online application to Curtin. All non-English documents need a certified English translation from a recognised translator. Originals are not posted at application stage — only certified scans are uploaded to the portal.

  • Passport bio page (valid for the full duration of intended study).
  • Certified copies of Class X and Class XII marksheets and pass certificates (for UG applicants).
  • Certified Bachelor’s degree transcripts and provisional or final degree certificate (for PG applicants).
  • English test score report (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Cambridge) or an MOI letter from your previous university.
  • Resume or CV (mandatory for MBA, recommended for all PG applicants).
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) tailored to the chosen course at Curtin.
  • Two academic or professional reference letters (mandatory for MBA and PhD).
  • Work experience certificates with role, dates, and employer letterhead (MBA applicants only).
  • Portfolio or sample work (Design, Architecture, Media programs only).
  • Funding evidence is not required at application stage but will be needed for the visa lodgement.

Once the offer is accepted and the eCoE is issued, a separate documentation set is required for the Australian Department of Home Affairs visa application, covered in the Visa section below.

Curtin University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students

Curtin does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Available third-party estimates place the figure at around 50%, based on competitive-intake program patterns. This sits in the middle of Australia’s Group of Eight average (35 to 50%) and the broader public-university average (60 to 75%).

How Selective Is Curtin University Admission?

Selectivity at Curtin is heavily program-driven. Open-entry programs in Commerce, Arts, and IT effectively admit most applicants who clear the Class XII or Bachelor’s floor. Competitive programs operate differently:

  • Medicine (MBBS pathway): highly selective, requires UCAT and interview.
  • Occupational Therapy and Medical Radiation Science: capped intake, early December deadlines, GPA-based ranking.
  • Psychology Honours: a high-cut entry filter on prior academic record.
  • MBA: work experience floor plus mandatory interview, with rolling shortlisting.

What Factors Influence Curtin University Admission?

For most Indian applicants, three factors decide an offer: meeting the academic floor (Class XII percentage or Bachelor’s CGPA), submitting a valid English test or qualifying MOI letter, and applying within the standard intake window rather than at deadline. Curtin’s ranking band in QS and THE places it among Australia’s stronger mid-tier research universities, which keeps applicant volume high without reaching Group of Eight selectivity.

Insider note: Indian applicants who apply in the first 6 weeks of the Semester 1 cycle (May to mid-June) report faster offer turnarounds (3 to 4 weeks) compared with late-cycle applicants (8 to 10 weeks). Early application also keeps the scholarship route open.

Curtin University admissions are accessible to Indian students who meet the IELTS 6.5 floor and a Class XII or Bachelor’s academic threshold, with the next primary deadline being 28 January 2027 for Semester 1 2027 — apply early in the May to June window for the fastest offer and best scholarship access.

Overview

I have grown as a person at this University. Not just in terms of academics, which made me realise how tough and complex a teacher's job is, but also as a person.

Scholarship

No I haven't received any scholarship, although I did earn 25% scholarship for my first year for being a meritorious student. Scholarships in Australia are minimal, and majorly for PhD and research based courses.

It has been an amazing journey so far. There is ample scope and opportunities and Perth being a moderately populated city makes it easy to find places and people that are willing to help.

Scholarship

I got a merit scholarship as I achieved more than 7 CGPA in my undergrad. It reduced by tuition fee by 25% This application was part of the enrolment and did not need any further process to apply separately.

Overview

My admission process was thoroughly through my own research as Curtin University stands among 1% of top universities and best for mining engineering as Australia is a hub of mining. I got major help from the consultancy (SIEC)

Scholarship

The criteria of getting a scholarship from my university are very simple I'd say the OASIS account have every detail and you will get active notification of active scholarships after subscribing. The scholarships are of various types such as accommodation scholarship, merit-based scholarship, minority-based etc.
