Community certificates must come from the correct authority for each category. Certificates issued by other states are not valid for communal reservation — your application will be automatically shifted to Open Competition (OC).

Community Issuing Authority
Scheduled Tribe (ST) Revenue Divisional Officer or Sub Collector of native place (except Chennai); PA General to Collector of Chennai. Certificates issued by Tahsildars up to 11.11.1989 are also valid.
Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyars (SCA) Tahsildar of the candidate’s Native Taluk

The certificate must be in permanent card format, electronic form or digitally signed e-Certificate. Certificates obtained after the online application closing date are not considered. For district-linked communities, the certificate must be issued from the respective district.

Nativity Certificate for TANCET 2026: Who Needs It

Whether you need a nativity certificate depends on where you studied — not where you were born. Most students who completed their schooling and degree within Tamil Nadu do not need one.

Student Profile Nativity Certificate Required?
Studied in Tamil Nadu from Class XI onwards (10+2+3 pattern) No — not required
Studied HSC or Diploma and Degree entirely within Tamil Nadu No — not required
Tamil Nadu native who studied Class XI, XII, Diploma or qualifying Degree outside Tamil Nadu Yes — mandatory (electronic form or digitally signed e-Certificate only)
Other state student who passed qualifying exams in Tamil Nadu No — considered under Open Competition
Children of Central Govt employees working in Tamil Nadu continuously for 5+ years No — employer certificate required instead

Tamil Nadu native students who studied outside the state must get the nativity certificate from the Tahsildar of their native place in Tamil Nadu. Only electronic form or digitally signed e-Certificate is accepted — physical paper nativity certificates are not valid. Applications submitted without this certificate in the correct format are treated as incomplete and rejected.

Differently Abled Students: Certificate Requirements

5% of government quota seats are reserved for differently abled students in TANCET 2026 MBA admissions. The certificate must come from a Medical Board — an individual doctor’s certificate is not valid.

  • Certificate must be issued by the Medical Board of the District concerned — not by any individual doctor.
  • The certificate must state the nature and extent of disability in percentage and confirm suitability for the MBA programme.
  • The certificate format is prescribed as Certificate No. I to V depending on the type of disability.
  • Only Tamil Nadu native students are eligible for the differently abled special reservation seats.
  • Minimum disability threshold: 40% and above for most categories under the RPWD Act 2016.

Students with disabilities can participate in the general counselling simultaneously. The 5% reservation is over and above the general pool — you are eligible for both tracks at the same time.

Registration Fees and Eligibility Marks

Confirm your eligibility marks before registering. The percentage is the average across all semesters of your qualifying UG degree. Marks for NCC, NSS, YRC and Yoga are excluded from this calculation.

Category Minimum Marks in Qualifying UG Degree Registration Fee
Open Competition (OC) 50% Rs. 800
BC / BCM / MBC and DNC (Tamil Nadu native) 45% Rs. 800
SC / SCA / ST (Tamil Nadu native) 45% Rs. 400

Payment is made online at tn-mbamca.com. There is no age limit for MBA admission under TANCET 2026. For queries, contact the Office of MBA/MCA Admissions at 0422-2451100.
