OJEE 2026 Round 2 choice filling is open from July 3 to July 11 at ojee.nic.in — log in and lock your ranked list of colleges and branches before the deadline to be eligible for Round 2 seat allotment on July 15, 2026.
The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) 2026 counselling covers over 89 colleges for B.Tech and more than 86 colleges each for MBA, MCA and Pharmacy programmes across Odisha, running across three allotment rounds. The order and volume of choices you submit directly decide which seat you receive. Students who fill too few choices or rank options without a clear plan risk missing better seats that open up in later rounds.
- Round 2 choice revision window: July 3 to July 11, 2026 at ojee.nic.in.
- Round 2 seat allotment is displayed on July 15, 2026; Round 3 allotment is on July 30, 2026.
- There is no upper limit on choices — fill as many college-branch combinations as possible.
- After each round you must choose Freeze, Float, or Slide during the online reporting window to manage your allotted seat.
- Physical reporting to your allotted college must be completed by August 7, 2026.

How to Fill Choices on the OJEE Portal
Choice filling is done entirely online. Follow these steps before the July 11 deadline for Round 2.
- Visit ojee.nic.in and log in with your OJEE 2026 application number and password.
- Go to Counselling and click Choice Filling in your dashboard.
- Click View Available Choices. The system loads eligible colleges and branches based on your rank, category, gender and sub-category.
- Search or filter by college name, district, course or institution type (government or private).
- Click Add to Choice List for each college-branch combination you want to include.
- Arrange the list from most preferred at the top to least preferred at the bottom using the drag-and-drop or re-order controls.
- Review the complete list and make any final edits — you can add, remove or reorder entries before locking.
- Click Lock Choices to finalise your submission. Choices saved but not locked are not counted for allotment.
Do not close the browser without locking your choices. A saved-but-unlocked list will not be processed in the allotment round.
How Many Choices Should You Fill
OJEE sets no upper limit on the number of college-branch combinations. Students who add more choices give the algorithm more options to match at their rank and consistently receive better allotments.
- Minimum recommended: 15 to 20 combinations across at least three colleges.
- Ideal range: 30 to 50 combinations if you are open to multiple branches or both government and private colleges.
- Include at least two to three safe options at the bottom of your list — colleges where your rank clearly falls within last year’s closing rank for your category.
- Do not add a combination you would refuse to join. The algorithm may allot it and you will need to pay the part admission fee to even hold that seat temporarily.
If you used the Round 1 mock allotment (released June 27, 2026) and the result did not match your expectations, the Round 2 revision window (July 3–11) is your opportunity to adjust the order or add new combinations before the next allotment.
Choice Ordering Strategy: Aspirational to Safe
The OJEE seat allotment algorithm scans your list from top to bottom and assigns the first combination for which a seat is available at your rank. The order you set is as important as the combinations you include.
| Priority Tier | What to Add | Where in Your List |
|---|---|---|
| Aspirational | Colleges or branches where your rank is slightly above last year’s closing rank — possible but not certain | Positions 1–10 (top) |
| Realistic | Colleges and branches where your rank is comfortably within last year’s closing rank — high probability of allotment | Positions 11–30 (middle) |
| Safe | Colleges where your rank is well below last year’s closing rank — near-certain allotment | Positions 31 and below (bottom) |
Branch vs college priority: If a specific branch such as Computer Science Engineering or Electronics is more important to you than the college name, list that branch across multiple colleges before listing a preferred college with a less relevant branch. If institution name matters more, do the reverse.
Additional ordering rules to apply:
- Place government colleges above private colleges at the same branch if fees are a concern — government college seats typically carry lower tuition.
- Check previous year closing ranks by category for each combination. A combination that appears aspirational for the General category may be realistic or safe for SC, ST or OBC students.
- For MBA, MCA and Pharmacy programmes, apply the same tiered strategy using OJEE PG rank lists and previous year PG cutoff data.
- Revisit and reorder your list after each round’s allotment result before the next revision window closes.
Freeze, Float and Slide: What to Choose After Allotment
After each round’s allotment, you must report online and select one of three options within the reporting window. Choosing incorrectly can cost you a confirmed seat or block an upgrade.
| Option | What It Means | When to Use It |
|---|---|---|
| Freeze | Permanently accept the allotted seat and exit all further rounds | When the allotted seat fully satisfies your goals and you do not want to risk losing it |
| Float | Hold the current seat provisionally while competing for any higher-preference option from your list in the next round | When you are willing to keep the current seat but want a shot at a better college or branch |
| Slide | Hold the current seat provisionally while competing for a better branch at the same college only | When you like the college but want a better branch and are not interested in moving to a different institution |
Key point on Float and Slide: If a better seat opens in the next round, your allotment upgrades automatically and you cannot return to the previous seat. If no better seat is available, your current allotment is retained. You must pay the part admission fee to hold your seat even while floating or sliding.
Students who receive a Round 1 or Round 2 allotment they are fully satisfied with should Freeze immediately during the online reporting window to secure the seat without participating in further rounds.
OJEE 2026 Choice Filling FAQs
Ques. When does OJEE 2026 Round 2 choice filling close?
Ans. The OJEE 2026 Round 2 choice revision window closes on July 11, 2026. Students must log in to ojee.nic.in and lock their revised choices before this deadline to be considered for Round 2 seat allotment on July 15, 2026.
Ques. Is there a limit on the number of choices I can add in OJEE 2026?
Ans. No. OJEE 2026 sets no upper limit on the number of college-branch combinations you can add. Filling more choices increases your chances of a better allotment. Aim for at least 15 to 20 combinations and ideally 30 to 50 if you are open to multiple branches or college types.
Ques. What is the difference between Float and Freeze in OJEE counselling?
Ans. Freeze means you permanently accept your current allotted seat and exit further rounds. Float means you hold the current seat provisionally while competing in the next round for a higher-preference option from your choice list. If a better seat is found it is allotted automatically; if not, your current seat is retained.
Ques. Can I revise my choices after locking them in OJEE 2026?
Ans. Once locked in a given round, choices cannot be changed until the next round’s revision window opens. For Round 2 the revision window is July 3 to July 11, 2026. During this window you can add, remove and reorder combinations before locking again.
Ques. How many rounds of seat allotment are there in OJEE 2026?
Ans. OJEE 2026 counselling has three rounds. Round 1 allotment was displayed on July 2, Round 2 allotment is on July 15 and Round 3 allotment is scheduled for July 30, 2026. A Special Registration window from July 23 to July 27 allows students from the second OJEE session to join Round 3.
Ques. What should I do after Round 1 allotment if I want a better seat?
Ans. Select Float during the Round 1 online reporting window (July 2 to July 7, 2026) and pay the part admission fee to hold your current seat. Then revise your choice list in the Round 2 window (July 3 to July 11). If a higher-preference seat opens in Round 2 it will be allotted to you automatically.
