Likes
- The location of the university is a major advantage. It is located in the heart of silicon valley. It gives better exposure to the students.
- People studying here are very helpful. One can easily reach out to them for any help.
- Faculty here are very welcoming. They make us feel comfortable during the class, so that we can even ask questions without any hesitation. They are very accessible.
Course Curriculum
- Instructors update their teaching style and syllabus according to the needs of industry.
- The labs that we do are very much relevant to the current technology and help us to get a better understanding.
- As an International student one should enrol in 9 units per semester (3 courses). The classes are typically in the evenings for the electrical department
Fees
- Tuition fees are $31,000 and Insurance for the entire duration would be around $4000 living expenses would be $900 per month
Likes
- Location is a key factor for choosing SJSU
- The Faculty to Student ratio is very good
- Cutting edge research goes on campus
Dislikes
- Campus Size is a thing I disliked, being in the downtown still it is a big campus
- Few courses have a very rigorous Course work
- Classes registration at the time of semester start is an big hassle
- I just live in front of the campus and there are various websites and portals where students get to see open apartment spaces and SJSU also helps students find Off Campus Housing and make the process easy for the students. 101 San Fernando, Colonade, The Grad and 360 Residencies Apartments are the closest ones to the campus and a large Indian Student community stays there.
Likes
- Academics and professors are really good
- Location and ease of access to community transportation
- Tuition fees is comparatively less
Dislikes
- Probably not as reputed as other top universities
- Mostly better for undergrads other than grads
- Cost of living is bit high and not a big campus
- We have our friends who used to stay here and suggested some apartments but in general, its easier to search on the net or Facebook groups that post about accommodations.
- They also have dorms to stay in on campus and there are also buildings near campus. Challenges are finding better roommates and good accommodation where everyone is helpful.

- Environment as it has nice ambition where we all can study together
- Competition is very high as most of the students dream of this college
- Teaching, processors are well refined in their subjects
Dislikes
- I am not able to take the subjects that i want to take as elective as i m restricted to the provided list,
- Also the prerequisites as i am in engineering managemnet course so i have to complete some prerequisites and before that i can not take BUS elective subjects,
- Also the insurance, we have to buy the insurance from the college only we dont allow with third party
Course Curriculum
- In engineering management, we have the subjects that need Excel, Word, and PowerPoint in order to do our homework, and the syllabus is very easy to study, and usually we don't find it difficult, but here in this course we are required to complete the prerequisite.
- We usually have 3 hours per course per week so if you choose to have 3 subjects, then 9 hours of class you will be attending. The numbers of students vary with the subjects that we have chosen because a lot of other students from different backgrounds might attend the same lecture but usually I find more than 70 students in our classes; Indian students might be around 30 to 50; I don't know exactly.
Fees
- My entire course needs 30 credits of subjects without considering pre-requisites
- My master is for 2 years and it cost me around 32k to 34k for my entire coursework.
- In addition to this, we have to pay for health insurance, which costs $800 for fall and $1100 for spring, including summer. And same for the next year.
- My fees can be paid through an education loan or case (not sure if they allot, but I heard of it). Here one subject costs around 3k so by this we can calculate the rest of the fees.
- Monthly expenses are mainly for rent and utilities, which is around 650 per person here in San Jose.
