- The research is perfect here
- The classrooms are having the best equipments
- The professors are the most helpful
Dislikes
- The college itself is separated and it's huge [so for a few days navigations becomes hard]
- It's very cold, unless you are particularly equipped with good jackets,
- TA is not given in the first semester unlike other colleges [you need to earn it by getting 4 for the first 2 semesters]
Campus Life
- The college has many campuses; our college in particular is widely spread and is not in one particular area, so sometimes you would have classes in two different campuses, but they are not extremely far away; they would all be in the same region, so they should be within walking distance.
- We have all the facilities like a library, sports facilities and medical services. In fact, we have the best medical service because our college also has a special medical campus for studies so we have very good support in terms of medical services and we also have the insurance covered by the UIC medical campus and hence the cost is much lower than what is provided outside.
- There are many campus clubs I am not particularly participating so I have minimal idea on that front. There would be some campus festivals, like the fall party at the start when the college begins, and some more. I am not particularly active in the festivals.
- You can participate in any of the extracurricular activities. Since I did not have the time to do that, I have not enquired about this aspect, but I can say that the gym facility here is outstanding. You would also have boxing classes, zumba classes, wall climbing and everything covered in our UIC sports fees.
Accommodation
- I have majorly used Zillow for searching for my rooms, and there were whatsapp groups which you can find in discord or whatsapp which would be specific for the location of the college and chicago in general.
- The monthly rent for my room is 650. I have a private room and it's not that big, you get the basic facilities like a washing machine, stove, centralised heater and air conditioner, and it would be different for different houses.
- The major challenge was communicating with the landlords here since you have an indian number and it is difficult to communicate prior to coming here, that is 1 major challenge, but most landlords would be available in whatsapp and since the timings are different, calling them would mostly be in the night.
- I would say select good roommates; do not always go for a cheap room rent price by including a lot of people in the room; this will ultimately hinder the meaning of your masters. unless definitely necessary, I would suggest not having more than 4 persons in a room.
- I have intentionally taken my accommodation very close to my college; it is almost a 10 min walk, which is one of the reasons why the room rent is a bit on the higher side. and the choice I made to do this is, since chicago is very cold in winters and when you miss the bus, you should have the ability to go to the classrooms, and the indian students typically stay near the campus and not so far.

- Plenty of opportunities for funding through assistantships(GA,RA,TA). Plenty of chances in minimum wage part time opportunities.
- Top class infrastructure with many facilities and the urban setting is highly beneficial.
- Good range of courses and professors(must be chosen properly).
Dislikes
- The campus is very decentralized and architecture is not really fancy as some college (both of the factors doesn't effect functionality/flexibility).
- Moderately high fee when landed in internship.
- Not very great efforts/opportunities for placements.
Campus Life
- We have many campuses, mainly west (for medical studies) and east for engineering. There is also a law college in the downtown.
- Library (2 of them west, east), gym (2 of them), sleeping pods, popup pantry (free groceries), night ride (free rides after 10 PM), college students, lot of study areas (literally every area is a study area), good wifi, many free events, career services, wellness center, commuter centre, etc.
- Thanksgiving clubs are mostly sports-related, and basketball is top-class and very popular.
- There are hundreds of student clubs, including indian clubs for celebrating indian festivals and 400+ student organisations, including the Society of women in engineering
Accommodation
- I have found my accommodation through the WhatsApp accommodation group but it can be found using aptartment.com and Zillow in general. The roommates were found through a yocket and an excel sheet of incoming students.
- 480 USD; only water is included. Application fee, overpriced options
- Join accommodation groups and, if possible, have a tour before joining and discuss with your roommates everything beforehand to avoid conflicts
- My accommodation is around 1 mile from CLG, walkable distance. Most Indians live off-campus, housing in a radius of 1 mile and very near campus. Mostly in the zipcode 60607. Wouldn't suggest crossing that zipcode.

- Great Campus and Gym. The recreation facility is really nice I spend a lot of time playing badminton .
- The commute is really easy the way the college is built the bus is literally at every corner.
- The infrastructure is really modern and futuristic it would be like you are in a movie.
Dislikes
- Not something about the university but about Chicago its just too cold.
- The career fairs are too crowded.
- The university merchandise is too expensive.
Campus Life
- UIC is taking us to Missouri free of charge to watch our basketball team play other teams. All hotel and bus rides are paid for so that speaks loads about how much they care for their students well-being.
- They have a club for everything from archery to swimming; everything is covered. A library, sports facility, badminton court, the best gym , also UIC has a medical center on the campus itself.
- I am the Vice President of the Computer Science Graduate Association. I deal with students in CS who come in to UIC as new students. I help with placements, seminars with people who have landed amazing jobs and just fun activities all year around. So if you are a CS student and are proactive, there is a high chance we will bump into each other.

Accommodation
- I am living off campus with my 3 flatmates. I used a company called University Rental. These guys are pretty good and have been helping students live off campus for a long time so if you are a student who plans to live off campus, this is a pretty good option.
- They have a lot of houses to choose from, varying in size and price. The range is mostly around 600-800 dollars per month, depending on how close to the campus you take the flat. The process was pretty smooth; they are really helpful; they have their own app to pay the rent and if you need any help, their office is also pretty close by; they can drop in anytime and help you.

- The subjects offered such as cybersecurity, global logistics, revenue management in my course were very versatile. My class strength was diverse in terms of age group, experience and home country. UIC offered jobs with one of the best stipend for GA and TA ($23.6) which is one of the best in public universities.
- I had an experience in supply chain and this course's curriculum was a perfect blend of supply chain and operations management. I chose this course and UIC because its a public university and has less fees as compared to other universities I got admit to.
Dislikes
- My first semester(spring 2021) was 100% online due to covid. But, when there was a choice between the online and offline, most of the US students chose online classes. And due to the majority choice, professors taught a few classes online.
Campus Life
UIC has different clubs(I was not a part of any). Most of the bachelor's course students join these clubs. They organize events on Indian festivals as well. UIC organizes dinner during exam times, special events for international students, job and career fairs. The classes are well equipped with echo 360, projector screens etc, library with macbooks , a very big gym etc.
Accommodation
I was staying close to UIC in a 3bhk, 2nd floor. Total rent was $1500. I paid $500 /month for a separate room, no attached washroom. it includes only water. AC/heater bill are separate(Max of $100/ person during winters)
Campus Life
There are Indian undergraduate and graduate student associations on campus that regularly hold events like Indian festivals, or other informal gatherings. There are two huge libraries and gyms on the east and west side of campus respectively. Wifi is available throughout campus and the university also provides access to eduroam which is a wifi network that can be accessed while on campus of other academic institutions
Accommodation
I live in a nice apartment near campus which costs $850 per month. This is on the higher side. Average rent would be about $650 per month, with electricity, gas and internet costing about 100$ per month. These costs can be reduced if more people share the apartr.
Accommodation
Graduated students are requested to rent and stay in the apartments. House rent is 1800$ including utilities and is shared by the roommates.
My fascination with science propelled me to choose Biotechnology for my under graduation. I decided to further study this course in detail by majoring in the medicinal side of biotechnology. I then started hunting for MS in Medical Biotechnology which was offered only by a few universities in the United States and the University of Illinois at Chicago was one among them.
Accommodation
You can get shared rooms for 400 dollars to 1200 dollars depending on area
This is a premiere institute for research comes within 250 rank in the world.
I chose university of Illinois at Chicago because it was fairly close to home (I commuted about 3 hours a day every day) and the education was fairly affordable compared to the other colleges close to home.
