  • I believe the graduate level courses offered are quite challenging. There’s a noticeable jump in difficulty from undergraduate to graduate-level classes, and it takes more effort to understand certain concepts. The coursework here is less theoretical and more hands-on, with a strong emphasis on coding assignments and application-based problems. There weren't many direct formula-based questions during the two years I studied there. Most of the learning is through problem-solving and practical application. This way students are actively trying to debug and understand the basics rather than memorizing.
  • One of the most positive aspects is how math-intensive and broad the coursework is. Because of that, the skills you gain can be applied across various domains. For instance, in subjects like aerodynamics and structural analysis, the curriculum starts with the basics and gradually builds up to complex problems, giving you a comprehensive understanding of the subject.
  • However, these courses can be quite time-consuming. It requires a lot of effort, discipline, and focus. Since most of the time is spent on research during the weekdays. Weekends are the only other free time that is available to work on academics with full focus. While that’s not necessarily a negative, it does mean students need to manage their schedules well to balance both academics and research.

  • The fee is charged per semester, and there are two semesters in a year. My monthly expenses were under $1,250. Rent was $750 and covered everything—electricity, internet, water, garbage, and so on. I spent around $400 a month on food, including groceries and the occasional takeout. I didn’t have any extra transportation costs since that was included in the university fees. Health insurance was also covered by the college as part of my scholarship.

My course syllabus is good but I was not given any research experience through my course. You need to apply on your own to get a research position etc.

Fees

I pay about 12k a year for my apartment. Tuition is about 12k as well. and 6k ish in transportation costs and other spending.

My first semester of college has been a very enriching experience. I have enjoyed my classes this first semester as a journalism major at Virginia Tech. The most valuable extracurricular activity that I was able to get involved in was the student-run radio station, in which I broadcasted the News section every Tuesday of the semester. I am also proud to say that I was able to balance D1 cheerleading and schoolwork gracefully, as I finished the semester with a 3.62-grade point average. My two favorite classes were my journalism class and my statistics class and I look forward to seeing what I can do to expand on those subjects in the future. Through journalism, I was already able to make many connections that will help me in the future and I am glad my school has a 'Hokies hiring Hokies' program which I plan to use to find an internship over the summer. This semester has started me off on a high note and I hope to keep learning more about my area of interest.

Fees

It costs about $27,000 to attend for one year. I got scholarships and grants from the school, but I probably will not get as many this upcoming year. My school is quite stingy on the amount of financial aid it awards to students.

It was amazing and had so much to offer and I learned so much. I'm glad I chose Virginia Tech as the college to go to for biochemistry. They are an amazing science school and the curriculum is Rigorous but worth it because of all I had learned.

Fees

There are a lot of fees. Housing, food, activity fees, tuition, staff. There's a lot to think about when going to this college but I think all the fees are worth it. Oh, I also forgot books.
