Dislikes
- I truly enjoy everything about my university , and there nothing much to dislike. Pollock halls are not good.
- The only challenge in the university is that the winters can sometimes be too cold and harsh, although campus is beautiful, getting to class from east to west can be tiring since they are often far apart and requires a lot of walking.

7. UIUC - I think the university rejected me because of few more exams i should have taken such as AP exams apart from IB board and made my score better in IB and SAT exam , should make my resume look more better and add more project to enhance my skills and experience , which can stand apart from rest applicants.
- I accepted Pennsylvania State university because It has large alumni network and has good ranking in computer science with good reviews when searched in different websites such as QS world ranking and US news. Its also near to New york and has better weather than much above places of US such as Chicago.
- I applied to Pennsylvania state university through common app portal , you have to fill the form according to your personal details and then write the personal essay according to the topic given , then upload your resume , you will email from Pennsylvania state university after several weeks (5-6 weeks) about the decision they made.
- I think SAT score with 1300 or 1300+ will be perfect and IELTS score of minimum 7
- Overall I would rate my admission experience at Penn State university a solid 9 out of 10, The process was smooth, and I faced no significant challenges. State college feels more like a town than a bustling city and peaceful place but it charms lies in a vibrant student community. The diversity, mix cultures and engaging people makes a Penn state a lively and Beautiful place to be.
- I applied to Penn State university in my regular decision around the end of December through common app portal - fill out the personal details , tell your exam scores and extra - circular activity then upload the file of your resume, you will get confirmation email after few weeks you will get decision from their side, I got accepted around the first week of Feb and I accepted the offer from my side on April end. I accepted this uni because it has large alumni network and know for cs department along with research opportunities.
Class Schedule
- The difficulty level of course depends from student to student, for me Physics is difficult rest is easy such as computer science studies and mathematics. They teach mostly in practical or live class, but there are few class which has hybrid mode.
- The classes are scheduled by the students themselves, so it may range from 1 class to 5 class a day , the timing are also selected by the students and they check the professors on ratemyprofessor website , each class is of minimum 45 minutes except for few which has class of 2-3 hours.
- Number of average students depends on subject. For example english class has 15-30 students whereas economics class has 100-150 students. Mostly in each class there are indians around 30 to 45 %, in entire university there will be rough indian public of around 15 to 20%.
Faculty
- Depends from class to class and subject to subject, few has 1:10 or 1:15-20 or 1:100-150.
- Teaching methodology varies from traditional style such as chalk board to white board to modern technologies such as PPT , Slides , PDF , projectors , smart TV. They help to communicate and work and grow in group.
- There are several faculties and academic advisors who give advise and assist student in getting jobs , its at the hand of student to find and fit well in the job, the faculties in Penn state organize so many events of career , they call different companies and several companies hire student from the university itself , they also organize event to boost your resume and there are lot of clubs heping to improve your career goals and writings such as resume , blogs etc
Campus Life
- There are many campuses of Penn state available in different location, main campus is University park and second most important is Harrisburg. There are overall 24 campuses.
- All facilities are available from library and personal room space to study in quiet environment and alone, medical services - UHS and many sports , esports , lawn tennis , gym and pickleball available.
- There are many clubs which has different goals and each club celebrates the festival according to them , there is ICLC club organizing all the Indian events that take place at the college.
- There lot of club activities which you have to enroll yourself and attended their masterclass or class and learn the technique or skills they teach you over the time.
Part Time Jobs
- Its sometimes difficult to get the on campus job especially with good positions or your interests because there are many applicants to apply for the similar on campus job.
- Maximum work that student can do is 20 hours per week.
- The pay range is $13 to $17 an hour depending on skills and job type and work.
- Its really tough to get in research assistant position as compared to other jobs.
- Most of the Indian students prefer to work either as research assistant or learning assistant or teaching assistant or best place is library assistant. They can apply for on campus job through the workday portal of psu or through lionpath to workday job on campus for students. When you apply for the job you will fill out the whole form with your personal details, will ask questions regarding policies and legals , then will ask you to share your resume or CV. After few days you get a mail, if you are accepted then you are interviewed or else apply in next semester.
Placement
- At Penn state, mostly over 90% of all graduates irrespective of majors do get the full time employement within few months or 1 year, with average salary above $70000.
- Student find job through campus recruitment event , internships, networking and online job portals such as LinkedIn. Many graduates have places in top companies such as MAANG.
- The strong alumni network and active career service help students connect with potential employees or recent graduates in job market.
Accommodation
- First year its compulsory to stay on campus as a freshmen year, then from second year most of the people select or prefer to stay off campus to get private rooms through real agents or local people or online platforms. Monthly rent varies from $700-$1900 per month.
- Currently for next 2 years, I am staying on-campus because of convenience and service they provide and easy to go and travel to the class and be on time. Mostly Indian stays on campus for first 2 years then prefer to stay off campus to focus on their goals and careers.
Exams
- People can be of any board - CBSE, ICSE, ISC, HSC, A levels or IBDP. A levels or IG or IBDP boards are more preferable because easy to transfer the credit.
- Must give AP exams according to major the student pursues.
SAT - 1300+ and Any English exam , IELTS - 7+, Duolingo - 125+, TOEFL - 90+ - You need to write your own essay according to the prompt given by university and submit your well organised cv or resume along with LOR.
- No interview was not a part of the application.
Fees

I dont know much about the fees stucture but Its roughly around $60000-$65000 for international students including everything (tuition living and miscellaneous) per year.
Tution fees - $40000-$50000
Living - $6000 - $10000|
Books - $500 - $1000
Miscellaneous - $100 - $500
Travel - $100 - $500
My monthly expense is $200 - $300 - They charge according to semester wise and credit wise depending on subject to subject chosen by student, student exceeding 19 credits in any semester , has to pay extra credit charge.
Scholarship
- No I didn’t receive any scholarship from university, I wish I could applied earlier for scholarship.I heard that People do get scholarship of $5000-$10000 per year , but not sure. I dont think any of my batchmates has got the scholarship.
- Many student do get scholarship mostly of merit based, athlete based and financial aid required. Many student get scholarship each year around $5000 per year based on their GPA.
