Scholarship

  • Merit scholarships (10%–40% waiver on tuition fee)
  • It is given based on your entire profile and academics. I received 40%
  • Almost every student gets some amount of scholarship but varies because of their academic profile
  • Additionally, one student from every department in the school of engineering is a full-bright scholar, which means 100% waiver on tuition fee.
  • This scholarship is awarded every year.
  • Please note this scholarship is limited to the school of engineering due to limited intake. This scholarship is not applicable to the business school.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I received a generous scholarship > 50%. The school offers merit based scholarship on the basis of your overall profile and test scores (GRE/GMAT).
  • Ideally for a good scholarship you want to aim for higher than the school’s average so a score close or higher than
a 690 on GMAT or 317 in GRE should work.
  • Most students to receive a scholarship to some extent ranging between 10 - 100%

Scholarship

  • I have got a tuition waiver for my program, though it depends on course, degree, financial situation etc, and if you contact university they will help you with it in a better way but as far I know, a lot of financial aid is available.
  • A lot of undergrads or masters students I know who got at least 50% scholarship, with some even up to 95-99% and a very few with 100%, though it depends on multiple factors, including obviously how strong you are academically.

Scholarship

  • While applying, I did not find any scholarships one could specifically apply for - especially international students. However, I learnt that they automatically consider you for scholarships with the college application itself! The scholarships are called Dean's Scholarship and Rochester National Grant.
  • They amount to about $30,000 per academic year, in addition to a waiver of the health insurance fee.
  • Most of my batch mates, especially international students, received roughly the same amount of aid as me.
  • According to USNews, the average aid given overall is roughly $58,000 but this number greatly varies for international students.
  • I'm not totally sure what the average is for international students, but I know a few people from India who have received a similar amount as me ($30,000 per academic year), so I assume that's about the average.

Overview

I chose Boston University because it is a prestigious graduate school and has great research and a great BME program. I wanted to live in Boston because I have lots of friends there, I like the city, and it's close to my family. It is also a great area for getting a job in biotech after I graduate. My experience as a graduate student at BU has been pretty good. It can be tough to start a master's degree without a lot of knowledge of what it will be like, but my advisor is helpful, and I have taken a lot of interesting classes. Yes, I had to submit letters of recommendation for my graduate program from professors in my undergraduate program.

Scholarship

Yes, I received a need-based financial aid of $9k/year for grad school.
