Mercer University Admissions Application Process

Step 1: Choose Your Application Path

• Select either the Common Application or Mercer’s own Application.
• Both are accepted for undergraduate and international students.
• Mercer does not prefer one over the other.

Step 2: Complete the Application & Pay Fees

• Fill out your selected application form (Common App or Mercer App).
• Pay the non-refundable application fee (approximately USD 100).

Step 3: Submit Academic Transcripts

• Upload or send official high school transcripts.
• If your transcripts are not in English, provide certified English translations.
• After admission, you may be required to submit a course-by-course credential evaluation.

Step 4: Submit Test Scores

• SAT or ACT scores: Optional for eligible students. Mercer superscores test results.
• English proficiency test scores are mandatory unless English was your high school language of instruction. Acceptable minimum scores include:
  • TOEFL iBT: 80
  • IELTS: 6.5
  • Duolingo English Test: 115
• Unofficial scores may be submitted initially. Official scores are needed after admission.

Step 5: Submit Supporting Documents

• At least one letter of recommendation is required.
• A personal essay may be submitted if applying through the Common App.
• Provide proof of financial resources, such as a recent bank statement showing funds to cover tuition and living costs (typically above USD 25,000).
• A copy of your passport may be requested for visa processing.

Step 6: Application Deadlines

• Early Action I: November 1
• Early Action II: December 1
• Regular Decision: February 1
• Transfer Admission:
  • Fall: June 1
  • Spring: November 1
  • Summer: April 1

Step 7: Receive Admission Decision

• Mercer will notify you of the admission decision via email or application portal.
• Additional instructions for enrollment and visa processing will follow if accepted.

Step 8: Accept Offer & Prepare for Visa

• Accept your admission offer by paying the enrollment deposit.
• Submit final official transcripts and any pending documents.
• Mercer will issue the Form I-20 for your F-1 student visa.
• Use the I-20 to pay the SEVIS fee and schedule your U.S. visa interview.

Step 9: Arrive & Attend Orientation

• Once your visa is approved, plan your travel and housing.
• Attend the mandatory international student orientation.
• Check in with Mercer’s Office of International Programs upon arrival.
