IACS: A review of the hidden jewel of Indian science

Likes

Very affordable, high quality labs, extremely experienced faculty
green campus, supportive peer groups and seniors, extremely educational environment
high value of recommendations from professors, great location(within the main city of kolkata)

Dislikes

small batch size(might be good for some bad for some), not very well known among common people but highly regarded among scientific spheres.
campus is small, but a second campus is under construction.

Internships Opportunities:

Most students here pursue internships in top colleges like iisers,iisc,niser etc. they usually start off in some college in kolkata to gain experience and eventually they do go for phd abroad(most of them). the students who are under inspire scholarship receive 20k for summer internships, and various other internships and projects like those organised by barc, etc also provide stipends.

Placement Experience:

This is basically a research institute. Students of the Indian Institute for Space Science and Technology and many research students get the chance of doing internships in this institution. Many MNCs offer various types of jobs after the 4th semester. Internship opportunity is around Rs 30,000 - 40,000.

Placement Experience:

The college offers a summer fellowship programme to the students which is generally form March - April. It is usually for Undergraduate and Post Graduate students and the stipend for the same is aroumd Rs3000 per month.

Placement Experience:

As I am still pursuing the course, therefore I have not been part of any placements. Although our seniors from various departments have been placed in companies responsible for marketing, sales, research, IT etc. Even if a student doesn't get placed the faculty aids in getting an internship.

Our college has an excellent placement cell. We do have internships at the college and after our 4th semester the college helps us fetching a compulsory internship that provide us necessary experience for our job applications.

A great college for Research

Placement Experience:

The college has a great reputation for its research. The placement cell does help in providing training and internship opportunities for students with a good stipend. We are do provided with good research opportunities with a stipend of around 30-40K per month.
