The institute accepts students with postgraduate, honours graduate, or general graduate degrees from recognized universities. The college is led by Vice Chancellor Dr. Debkumar Mukherjee, and most faculty members have Ph.D. degrees. The tuition fee per semester is Rs 2,875, with additional charges of Rs 1,050 for the first semester and Rs 900 for the second.

Each semester also requires a Rs 300 admission fee, bringing the total cost for both semesters to Rs 8,300. Students have placement opportunities to work as librarians in teaching institutes, with monthly stipends between Rs 15,000 and Rs 25,000. Scholarships available include the Swami Vivekananda Merit Scholarship and the Indira Gandhi Scholarship for girl children, and students can also access educational loans through institute-supported banks.
