CUSB M.Pharm Pharmacology FAQs
Ques. Is GPAT mandatory for admission to M.Pharm Pharmacology at CUSB, or is CUET-PG sufficient?
Ans. GPAT is not mandatory for admission to M.Pharm Pharmacology at CUSB. Admission is primarily based on CUET-PG 2026 scores (Paper Code: SCQP23). However, candidates with a valid GPAT score are given preference during merit list preparation. So while you can get admission through CUET-PG alone, having a GPAT score significantly improves your chances given the limited 15 seats. Additionally, GPAT qualification entitles you to a monthly scholarship of Rs. 12,400 from PCI, which is a major financial benefit.
Ques. What is the actual competition level for M.Pharm Pharmacology at CUSB given only 15 seats?
Ans. With only 15 seats and CUSB being a centrally funded university with strong academic reputation, the competition is quite intense. Based on previous years' data, the CUET-PG cutoff for M.Pharm Pharmacology at CUSB has been around 165 marks (out of 300). Candidates from across India apply, and the merit list is drawn strictly on CUET-PG scores. It is advisable to also qualify GPAT to strengthen your application and secure the scholarship simultaneously.
Ques. Does CUSB provide hostel accommodation for M.Pharm students, and what are the actual costs?
Ans. Yes, CUSB provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls on campus. The hostel fee is approximately Rs. 1,500 per month, and the mess fee ranges from Rs. 2,400 to Rs. 3,500 per month depending on the meal plan. So the total hostel and mess expense comes to approximately Rs. 3,900 to Rs. 5,000 per month, or roughly Rs. 46,800 to Rs. 60,000 per year. Hostel allotment is based on merit and availability, and not all students are guaranteed a hostel room. It is advisable to apply for hostel accommodation immediately after admission confirmation.
Ques. What career options are available after completing M.Pharm Pharmacology from CUSB?
Ans. M.Pharm Pharmacology graduates from CUSB can pursue careers in pharmaceutical research and development, clinical research organisations (CROs), drug regulatory affairs, academia (as lecturers/assistant professors), and government drug testing laboratories. Many graduates also qualify for CSIR-UGC NET/JRF to pursue Ph.D. programmes. The pharmacology specialisation is particularly valued in preclinical research, toxicology studies, and new drug development roles in companies like Sun Pharma, Cipla, Dr. Reddy's, and Biocon. CUSB's central university status also opens doors to government research positions.
Ques. Can I apply for Ph.D. at CUSB after completing M.Pharm Pharmacology from the same university?
Ans. Yes, CUSB offers Ph.D. programmes in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and M.Pharm graduates from CUSB or any other recognised university can apply. Ph.D. admissions at CUSB are conducted through a separate entrance test (CUSB Research Entrance Test / RET), and candidates with UGC-JRF or GPAT scholarship are given direct admission without the entrance test as per UGC guidelines. The Ph.D. programme provides a monthly fellowship, making it financially viable for students who wish to continue in research after M.Pharm.
Ques. Is the M.Pharm Pharmacology programme at CUSB recognised by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI)?
Ans. Yes, the M.Pharm programme at CUSB is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). CUSB is a central university established under the Central Universities Act, 2009, and its pharmacy programmes comply with PCI regulations. This recognition is important because it makes CUSB M.Pharm graduates eligible for the GPAT scholarship, registration with state pharmacy councils, and employment in regulated pharmaceutical industries and government positions.
