Sharda University: 4 Answered Questions

What are some hostels or PGs near Sharda University, Greater Noida?

Akanksha Gupta
Ashmita RoyStudied at Sharda University (2018)

If you don't want to stay at the campus hostel there are some good hostels and PGs near Sharda University. You can choose them based on your requirements. I will suggest you stay in Gamma-I or Beta-I. These two sectors are very close to Sharda University.

  • Gamma-I has the biggest market Jagat farm of greater Noida. You can find anything easily there.
  • Beta-I is located opposite of Gamma-I.
  • Living at any of these two sectors will be great as you can easily get direct auto rickshaws to Sharda University. The fare is also quite cheap.
  • If you are unable to get into these two sectors you can go for Alpha-I. This sector is also well connected.

My suggestion is to stay in any of these three sectors I mentioned above. Don't stay at PGs. Most of the PGs near the college are not that good. The only good hostel near the college is the GN hostel.

How is the mess food at Sharda University?

Rishi SenguptaSharda University (2019)

Sharda University has 9 hostels (4 boys hostels and 5 girls hostels) along with a PG hostel. Each of the hostels have their own mess facility and the mess provide the residents with 4 meals per day.

The mess consists of a large dining hall which allows all the students and the staff to dine together at the same time. The best thing is that they have different dining halls catering to veg and non-veg people on different floors to dine separately. Apart from that, each mess consists of its own kitchen which cooks hygienic and fresh food with clean utensils and well-maintained workers.

There are other café and restaurants such as More than Café, Coffee Day Express, Uncle’s Café, and Coke Studio, etc. which serve pasta, sandwich, and much more on the campus.

There are also many vendors outside the campus. It includes Indian, Chinese, and other Intercontinental dishes. You can find beverages such as tea, coffee, cold drinks along with pastries, and other knick-knacks in both indoor and outdoor settings.

How is the hostel life at Sharda University?

Priyanka MehtaB.Tech in Computer Science, Sharda University (2019)

One of my seniors from school used to be a student of Sharda University and from what she has told me, the university has very good campus and the hostel facilities are some of the best he has come across. She spent a week thereafter graduation. Some of the features are:

  • The entire campus of Sharda University is wifi enabled.
  • The food from the mess is decent.
  • There are double/triple sharing rooms in the hostels.
  • There are several canteens within the campus.
  • There are students from different countries like Afghanistan, Ethiopia, etc., making interaction with various nationalities possible
  • During the month of Ramadan, there are separate food arrangements for students.
  • Facilities for sports like basketball, football, cricket, etc are also in the campus.

Greater Noida is developed and if you are an outsider it would be a good idea if you take the hostel right after admission. The infrastructure of the university is amazing and there are AC/non AC rooms in the hostels as well. In addition to that, there are attached as well as common washrooms for the students. The hostels have laundries too where the first few washes are free for the students.

Which hostel is better in Sharda University, Vivekananda or Mandela?

Hemant JhunjhunwalaB. Tech Computer Science, Sharda University (2019)

A friend of mine used to stay at the Mandela Hostel. It had attached bathrooms and laundry service as well. The hostel is costly and the quality of food at the hostel is also good.

The features of Mandela Hostel and Vivekananda Hostel are:

  • The rooms of Mandela Hostel are spacious and are of better quality. One room is given to two occupants.
  • Mandela Hostel does not have balconies but the Vivekananda Hostel does.
  • Mandela Hostel provides a nice view of the campus. The view changes based on your room in the Vivekananda Hostel.
  • In addition to that, there is also a barbershop in the Mandela hostel and a café. There is unity among the students who live in Mandela.

The atmosphere of the Mandela Hostel is calm mainly because students of different states live and mingle among themselves. Vivekananda Hostel is for the freshers which give it a very warm and friendly atmosphere.
