GBU Ph.D. (Management) FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between full-time and working professional modes for Ph.D. (Management)?
Ans. The Ph.D. (Management) program at GBU offers two modes: Full-Time (FT) and Working Professional (WP). Full-Time candidates are expected to dedicate themselves entirely to research and coursework, with an academic fee of ₹25,000 per semester. Working Professionals must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching/research experience from national institutes or 2 years of industry/R&D experience, and pay an academic fee of ₹50,000 per semester. Working Professionals must obtain a No Objection Certificate and letter of consent from their organization, ensuring they receive adequate facilities and time for research. The duration and research requirements are similar for both modes.
Ques. What is the GBU Entrance Test (GBU-ET) for Ph.D. (Management) and how is it structured?
Ans. The GBU-ET for Ph.D. (Management) is a qualifying entrance test designed to assess candidates' research methodology knowledge and subject-specific expertise. Candidates with JRF/NET qualifications are exempted from appearing in GBU-ET but must still appear for the interview.
Ques. Can I apply for Ph.D. (Management) if I am still pursuing my Master's degree?
Ans. Yes, candidates appearing for their Master's degree examination can apply for Ph.D. (Management) at Gautam Buddha University. It is advisable to apply only if you are confident about meeting the minimum eligibility criteria. The university will verify your qualifications during the interview process, and admission remains provisional until all required documents and final results are submitted.
Ques. What are the research specializations available in Ph.D. (Management)?
Ans. The Ph.D. (Management) program at Gautam Buddha University offers three specializations: Economics (1 seat), Operations (2 seats), and Human Resource Management (1 seat). These specializations allow candidates to focus their research on specific areas within management studies. Economics specialization focuses on economic theories, policies, and their application in business. Operations specialization covers operational management, supply chain management, and process optimization. The proposal should clearly outline your research topic, research questions, methodology, and expected contributions to the field of management. The title page of the proposal must specify the discipline of research and the mode of admission (Full-Time or Working Professional). The research proposal is evaluated by the interview panel as part of the selection process, and it demonstrates your research aptitude and clarity of thought. You may also submit a list of publications or other research credentials if available. The proposal should reflect your academic background, area of interest, and alignment with the university's research priorities.
Ques. Are there any exemptions from the GBU Entrance Test for Ph.D. (Management)?
Ans. Yes, candidates who have qualified for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) through UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICAR-ASRB examination or NET (National Eligibility Test) with qualified for Ph.D. category are exempted from appearing in the GBU Entrance Test (GBU-ET). However, these candidates must still fulfill other minimum eligibility criteria and appear for the interview. JRF/NET qualified candidates receive preference in the merit list: first preference is given to JRF qualified candidates, and second preference to NET qualified candidates. If JRF/NET candidates appear through GBU-ET, they receive additional marks (5 marks for JRF and 3 marks for NET). These exemptions recognize the rigor of national-level examinations and provide an alternative pathway for highly qualified candidates to pursue doctoral research at GBU.
