Banasthali Vidyapith PhD Eligibility Criteria 2025
The eligibility criteria for PhD at Banasthali Vidyapith Jaipur are given below.
- A Ph.D. Aspirant who has obtained a 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master's degree programme after a 3-year bachelor's degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body in the subject or related /allied area with at least 55% aggregate marks (or an equivalent CGPA) (50% in case of SC/ST/ Differently-Abled/ EWS category) or has qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants commission may apply for Admission to the Ph.D. programme at any time during the academic year for pursuing his/her research work under the guidance of a supervisor approved by the Vidyapith.
- Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed (70% for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently Abled, EWS categories)
Banasthali Vidyapith Selection Criteria 2025
For selection to PhD at Banasthali Vidyapith, candidates must score merit in Research Entrance Test (RET) except for the Department of Performing Arts, Visual Art, Design and Architecture. A Ph.D. Aspirant who has qualified NET, SLET, GATE, GPAT or M.Phil with 55% (admitted to M.Phil. programme through entrance examination) may be exempted from the research entrance test. Candidates will be divided into several categories for PhD Admissions.
Candidates who qualify in Categories 2 and 3, a 70% weightage will be given for test scores and 30% weightage for the interview for admission to Ph.D. programmes. The Ph.D. admission will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the interview/viva voce. The marks obtained in the NET by the candidates in Categories 2 and 3 will be valid for a period of one year for admission to Ph.D.
- Category 1: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. with JRF
- Category 2: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. without JRF
- Category 3: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme only and not for the award of JRF.

Ques. How can NRIs/Foreign/NRI Sponsored Candidates apply for admission to Banasthali Vidyapith?
Ans. A limited number of seats are available for Foreign/NRI/NRI sponsored candidates. Admission against these seats are based directly upon the merit and the applicants do not have to appear in the Aptitude Test. The eligibility for Foreign/NRI/NRI sponsored candidates is 40% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. These cutoffs are relevant for programs except for B.Ed. where it is 50% and M.Ed. where it is 50%.
