Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University Pondicherry Ph.D: Fees 2025, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

SRI BALAJI VIDYAPEETH UNIVERSITY SBVU is a Deemed University imparting professional MEDICAL (clinical/non-clinical) education, research and training. Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University (SBV) has four constituent colleges in two campuses and offers admission to the following Full time/Part time Ph.D. programmes:

• PhD- Anatomy-11 seats
• PhD- Microbiology-04 seats
• PhD- Interdisciplinary Research-05 seats
• PhD-Physiology-04 seats
• PhD- Biochemistry-06 seats   
• PhD- Medical Education-03 seats     
• PhD- Community Medicine-01 seats
• PhD- Medical Informatics-01 seats
• PhD- Pathology

Only candidates with the relevant qualification can register for the above mentioned programmes. Seats are reserved for people belonging to different categories such as SC/ST/BC etc. as well as special categories viz. Differently-abled etc. in accordance to the rules of the government. Admission to the above programmes is done on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the common entrance test (CET) and interview. 

Sri Balaji Vidhyapeeth University Ph.D. Eligibility

• Candidate(Indian/foreign) must have hold of master’s degree of min 3 year duration/Concerned PG Diploma in the concerned subject with not less than 50% of marks/equivalent grade from a university recognized by MCI are eligible for admission to full time/part time admissions
• Candidates with min 1 year teaching experience /5 years non-teaching experience in concerned subject at UG/PG level and willing to work at SBVU in the concerned department are eligible for admission to Ph.D. under part-time internal category
• Qualified technocrats/scientists /social scientists with minimum 2 years’ experience are eligible for admission to Ph.D. under part-time internal category whereas experience of 10 years is required for admission to Ph.D. under part-time external category
• For Ph.D. in clinical branch candidate with PG diploma are required to have working experience of 1 year in the concerned department whereas candidates with PG degree are eligible for part time (internal/external) category without any work experience
• Qualified Candidate who is permanent faculty/member of any recognized university/industry (Indian/abroad) with minimum two years of work experience in the concerned field is eligible for Part-time (external) Ph.D.

Sri Balaji Vidhyapeeth University Ph.D. Admission Process

Candidates will be selected for the above programmes on the basis of their merit in CET / followed by the Interview.

However qualified candidates with work experience of minimum 1 year /candidates selected under international cultural/educational exchange schemes of GOI/UN bodies/candidates admitted under MOU between SBVU and any university are not required to appear in the entrance examination. Selection of such candidates is based on interview only.

How to Apply?

All fields in the application form should be correctly and completely filled-in with the relevant information.

Candidate can obtain the application form from the University Office at MGMCRI Campus, Pondicherry in person/by post or should log on to the university website and follow the given steps:

1. Fill the application form with the necessary information
2. Take the printout of the Application form
3. Enclose the application form with the important documents
4. Pay the application fee via available  online payment modes/ demand draft drawn in favour of the Registrar, Sri Bala Ji Vidyapeeth University, Ponducherry-607402
5. The candidate shall submit the application form along with the necessary enclosures  to the university office either by post/in person
6. Candidate must keep the Xerox copy of the completed applications for subsequent use

The candidate must send the photo affixed and duly signed application and the following copies of following documents.

1. Transfer Certificate   
2. HSC/CBSE/other equivalent mark sheet
3. Graduation certificate
4. PG Certificate
5. M.Phil. certificate-if required
6. Work experience certificate-if required
7. NOC from the concerned department-if required
8. Diploma certificate –if required
9. Community Certificate (For OC candidates community certificate not required)   
10. Certificates for Special categories, if required     
11. Nativity Certificate if required   
12.  Date of Birth Certificate (SSC / ICSE / CBSE).
13. Medical certificate
14. Rank Card of CET
