Course Details
Sambalpur University offers a 2-year MCA program in Part-time mode or as a Distance/Correspondence course. The university also provides MCA under self-financing courses. The application mode to the MCA course is online. Students can visit the official website to register for the course.
To get admission to MCA in any stream, the student must have a valid rank in the OJEE exam or equivalent. Admissions are made on the basis of scores obtained in OJEE Examination. Students who haven’t appeared for OJEE have to appear for an entrance test taken by the Sambalpur University.

Sambalpur University MCA Eligibility Criteria
All the Applicants who have cleared the below-mentioned degrees from Sambalpur University or any equivalent exam from a UGC perceived University are eligible for this course:
- B.Sc. (Hons.): In Computer Science, Statistics or IT, Maths, Physics, Electronics.
- B.Sc. (PASS) with an aggregate of 45% having one of the mentioned subjects as Core: Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electronics, Statistics or Information Technology and having Mathematics at +2 level
- BCA with at least 45% in total having Mathematics at +2 level
- BCA with 45% in total without having Mathematics at +2 level however Mathematics at BCA level.
- B.E./ B.Tech in any discipline with an aggregate of 45% in total.

The admission to the MCA course is done based on OJEE score/ Equivalent and the entrance test as well. The selection for half of the seats offered by the University is done based on the OJEE score and the rest of the seats are fulfilled by selecting candidates based on their scores in the entrance test taken by University.

Sambalpur University MCA Reservation Criteria
A total of 12% to 8% of seats are reserved for applicants who are from scheduled tribes and scheduled castes respectively. However, if the seats required for ST applicants remain vacant then those seats will be filled up by admitting SC applicants and Vice-versa.

- In the case of children of the Ex-defense personnel and for the participants in the Inter-University Sports and State Team approved by the National Organization, 5% of total marks secured by that applicant shall be added to the aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
- One seat in each department is reserved for specially-abled students. The specially-abled candidates are required to submit the certificate from the C.D.M.O. regarding their disability for more than 50%.
